Day Off

Not working today as I had an appointment at the hospital about my damaged tooth.  I have come to Mum & Dad's afterwards and am now catching up with emails etc.

The hospital have told me that I will be able to have the root removed with a local anasthaetic, rather than a general like my dentist thought.  She said it would be 3 stitches that will desolve, and hopefully done before Christmas.

I then went shopping (for new bras!) ... and now, as M&D are shopping I am playing on Dad's pc ... and being nostalgic while doing it.  When I was a kid there used to be a quarter of an hour slot after the lunchtime news called Watch With Mother, and when we got a TV it was the rule to watch it.  My favourite programme as a kid was Camblewick Green -

It was always fun to guess which character would have the starring role.  I do like a man in a uniform!

Whether you have a deap faith, as I do, or if you just enjoy a fun film, then Sister Act comes in that catagory.

Sister Act is about a Reno lounge singer named Deloris Van Carter who witnesses her mobster boyfriend killing an employer. She is then hidden in a convent under a witness protection program. She soon makes friends with the nuns especially Sister Mary Robert, Sister Mary Lazuras and Sister Mary Patrick. After the Mother Superior catches Deloris going out to a bar in the night time followed by Mary Robert and Mary Patrick she orders her to join the church choir. Only to find her coaching the choir and turning them into swingin' singin' sisters. The choir proves to be a big success with the surrounding neighborhood, but will Deloris' boyfriend track her down?

She re-invents the choir and has them singing secular songs, but rather than aiming at a boyfriend, their focus is on God. I love this song anyway, but it is also a shows this change in theme brilliantly -

The finale of the film - Delores no longer needs to hide the fact she is not a nun, but she still has one more concert to do -
