debris4spike: (Christmas Tree with James)

... I hope. Yes, went this morning on my way back from DJ to post the last parcels - so now, I hope, that is the final visit for a few days to the post office!

LOL - Postman has just arrived as I was posting this and have had a card from someone I was at college with, who I haven't heard from in 2 years, so decided not to post to this year - now I shall be writing a card and sticking it in the post box later!!

Where do I start - but all I can say is I am one lucky girl!

I have had lovely cards arrive today from -

[livejournal.com profile] rivertempest [livejournal.com profile] lupina78 [livejournal.com profile] kazzy_cee [livejournal.com profile] fenchurche

and [livejournal.com profile] spikereader - yes, I am looking forward to seeing you in Feb ... should be a great weekend.

And [livejournal.com profile] kudagirl - I so agree with the words in the card - wish we were nearer to be able to give you my Christmas wishes in person.

Thank you - really livened up the house.

debris4spike: (DJ - plaited!)
No - don't panic, you haven't missed Christmas, but Ros will be away for the next 2 weeks, so this was "our" last Wednesday of 2009!

When I arrived this morning it was to see DJ looking even muddier than yesterday - what does he get up to. Neither Badger nor Conrad were dirty - only DJ ... and as the only one of the trio working, it also meant the double work involved of him getting dirty, and me getting him clean only involved the 2 of us ... How sweet!!!!!

So (seemingly) hours later, we were ready, Toni had taken Junior out to her field and tacked but Smudge when Ros and Shadow arrived.

We went down the road to the Church and back via the village ... and what I must point out is that, out of 3 boys, only one of them was 100% perfect in the traffic ... and the winner was ... DJ. Yes, he was a good boy - but both the others spooked at assorted things this morning.

Once back he had a few moments to settle before having a feed, and another carrot ... and back out to his field, to roll (I'm sure!)

debris4spike: (Wow)
Again I am going to cheat - but in all honesty it is only one (sort of) piece of art work! I attended college for 4 years, and for 3 of those 4 years I walked across or around this piece of art work.

It is an area of London dedicated to an Admiral of the Fleet who was fatally wounded at The Battle of Trafalgar - Yes, you guessed it, his name is Lord Horatio Nelson ... and this is the statue of him -

Photobucket

And here you can see a general view of Trafalger Square, in case you don't know what I am talking about -

However, the real piece of art work I wanted to share were the 4 lions that stand at the bottom of the plinth .... They are truly stunning, and the sheer size of them tends to get forgotten in the context of the whole location. They are stunning in their beauty, and as you can see in this image, their grandure is beautiful -

There are four bronze lions, set on granite plinths, and were sculpted by Sir Edwin Landseer.

Well worth sharing with you all.
