Saturday Evening
Monday, September 24th, 2012 09:58 amMum, Dad and I went to our neighbours 80th birthday party on Saturday.

Eric had worked in farming, piano tuning, Dartmoor National Park, etc ... the family got the "history" on his cake.

The family ... They had 5 children, but sadly 2 have already died ... so here are the remianing 3 girls (all of whom are actually younger than me!)

It was fun to celebrate - and great to actually have something that Mum & Dad could both get to ... am really pleased with this lovely photo -

Date: 2012-09-25 06:44 pm (UTC)I was amused that you recognise a tractor make froma model! Does that mean your family are involved with them?

Blue = Ford
Green w/yellow wheels = John Deere
Not sure what brand the red ones are.
I come from a county that has very active 4-H and agricultural clubs for its youth because there's still plenty of farmland for both livestock and crops. Our chief money-makers have always chiefly been dairy and oil...except maybe while we still had the factories that made products for "the big 3" until the employees all got laid off and the businesses all got moved down to Mexico. >:(
But, yeah. I know a lot of tractors by their colors. It's not because my family's involved with them; it's because everyone knows everyone else around here. Also, we have a HUUUUUUUGE John Deere dealership just outside of my hometown that is owned by a well-known family, so...it's kinda hard for me not to know what a John Deere looks like. LOL

Date: 2012-09-30 08:11 pm (UTC)I grew up in Greater London os tractors were unknown ... then I moved to a rural area and suddenly I had to lear a lot about silage, sheep, tractors ... mostly by being slowed up on the road!
Where I grew up there was a huge Ford factory ... so 80% of the locals had them. At the time, I could always recognise a Ford even though we never owned one!
