100 Meme - Film # 31
Thursday, September 13th, 2012 08:59 amHaving got you all looking at Cary Grant, I thought I would skip around for the next 10 ... and maybe try to stay more "up to date" ...
The newest film (to date) that I have watched I am actually keeping to finish the 100 with (if I get there), but have to start with an adaptation of a book, that I have loved as the original film, watched in a BBC series ... and now enjoyed very much in this remake. Have you guessed it - yes Pride and Pejudice
What can I say about the film - other than to quote the IMBd listing -
Sparks fly when spirited Elizabeth Bennet meets single, rich, and proud Mr. Darcy. But Mr. Darcy reluctantly finds himself falling in love with a woman beneath his class. Can each overcome their own pride and prejudice?
Starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen it is a lovely adaptation of a classic story - with lovely settings as well. And on DVD and in USA we have an extended film!
The original trailer is here and here is a clip from early on in the film, setting the scene -

Date: 2012-09-16 09:00 pm (UTC)I didn't approve of Darcy jumping into a pond wearing his beautiful field boots. I know it was supposed to indicate his distressed state of mind, but it didn't work for me. I had a few other minor issues too which I do not recall now.

Date: 2012-09-17 07:22 am (UTC)The pond scene was put in, and well advertised here, to get more viewers to a traditional book!! That scene didn't work for me either - not least because of the ruined boots!
