Really weird, but I do love this song, although I'm not a great fan of the film.  The weird thing it has been on my mind all morning, and I have Xander Harris to blame for that!  Yep, you read that correctly!

I was starting to re-watch BtVS again (about time, I know) nad saw a bit with breakfast ... and Xander quoted the "fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly"

So, now I have this song in my mind -never thought I would be grateful to Xander for anything!

The 1951 version was quite different than the book, stage musical or the 1936 movie. This version did have some wonderful actors in it. MGM version seemed to be highly "sanitized" and took out a great deal of the comedy of the original book/musical/movie.

I have only seen this version - so maybe should look at the older version to see how that runs. I know this one has some great singers in it ... especially -



Although when getting this I see Paul Robeson sung it in the other version ... another great bass singer.

Is she mixed race? Am I being terribly ignorant asking that? She's very beautiful.

*g* - I had to look her up and it does say she is of English/Irish descent .... but they mention Indian, as well.

All Iknew about her was that she was married to Frank Sinatra ... apparantly "the" wedding of it's day!

She has real charisma.
