They Didn't Want Me!
Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012 07:55 amI have always suffered with feeling unwanted - and today was THE classic ... go onto the ward and they tell me to go home!
~~~
The rest of the story is that by the time I had done the (normal) 10 minutes walk, I could hardly stand!
So, it looks like a week off work - and I don't get paid, which is not good for the bank balance. Oh well, it could have been a worse injury, so I am still thankful not to have ripped my Achilles tendon.
I have physio on Friday, so will have to wait and see what they think.
Now must go to phone my office to tell them I am back home ... communication is not always great there!
Date: 2012-07-03 11:15 am (UTC)My place of work would rather we work ill than call in. In retail, they schedule far too few so one call out really makes the day harder. I was sick last Wed on my day off. I still felt bad on Thurs, but had to go in. We were having our District Manager and others in for a tour as they call it. Since I work alone most of the day, I had to be there. I stuck it out till the visit was over and then told them I had to leave. I went home and slept the rest of the day. They have refused to allow us to leave at time when we are really ill.
Getting better is your main thought. If you overwork yourself, you will end up hurt yourself even more. Please know you are cherished by so many people. You bless our lives daily.
Date: 2012-07-03 11:40 am (UTC)It would have been a fourth time but I told the manager to find someone else to cancel because I was in agony and was sick of having my time wasted.
An hour later, on finding that I was still there waiting for answers, a "cancellation" was pulled out from someone's arse and I got the offending teeth yoinked by a lovely friendly surgical team who gave me something to get me stoned and made me laugh a lot :)
Date: 2012-07-03 02:59 pm (UTC)Secondly, sweetie you're injured.. and you're a physio, so you know you can't be on a ward until you've had time to heal.
You should be entitled to Statutory Sick pay.
(((hugs)) Rest up!
Date: 2012-07-03 08:23 pm (UTC)Yep, I know, I just feel guilty sitting around - but will admit I was the first to agree that I would never manage the job and signed myself off for the rest of the week. Next week I have 3 non-ward duty shifts. 2 on Maternity, where it is just bed making, and one in clinic.
The leg is much better - although I can't move fast!
Thank you.
Date: 2012-07-04 10:51 am (UTC)I rested 101% for 3 days, and hoped things would be OK ... yes, it's getting better but not well enough to work. I am on anti-inflams and pain killers ... and have physio on Friday.
