Date: 2012-06-27 07:10 am (UTC)Her dad knew M&D in the mid 50's. He was a Missionary in Angola and when on furlough they were his EWnglish contact (he is Swiss). He married an American ... but kept in contact. I met Annemarie for the first time when whe was a few months old and I was 3.
We met about every 7-8 years after that. When her mum died she came for a visit and spent a lot of the year with us ... and visiting her father who was working in France. That was 1986. When her dad re-married in 1988 she spent the trip with us ... so when she got married she invited me over to be Maid-of-Honour. We spent a week in Michigan, and became friends with the hosts.
In 1994 we visited the people who had hosted the wedding who had moved to Colorado ... and she came from Idaho for the first week.
Our friendship is such that the years have always meant nothing. And even now our beliefs and lives are different that central core of friendship is un-changed.
