2011 - Day 196

As I left mum & dad's this morning there was a terrble screaching sound at the end of the road ... my brakes had died!  So I managed to go slow and steady to the Repair Place that I had the service done at in Feb ... and poorly car -



Looks a bit sorry for itself, doesn't it?

The screaching was metal on metal ... scary that I had not been aware that the pads were thinning, until they had gone.

Still all OK now ... another bill, no work ... but I got a couple of letters written this afternoon and can (hopefullY play catch-up on LJ this evening.

LOL - I never thought of my small car as the TARDIS before ... although it always seems to have a lot more junk in there than I expect!

I'm glad you got to the repair shop safely. Faulty brakes are a scary thing to deal with.

You were fortunate! Brake failure could have been much more serious. Glad it is now OK.

Did you get everything out of your old house? When will the new house be ready for you to move into?

I move everyhting out on Tuesday - although Toni's husband and father were there yesterday collecting some old "dead" flat-pack furniture to take to recycling for me.

No, everything goes in storage - another bill, but that's what will happen. Annoying, but as I do like the house I've seen it's worth waiting a bit to see what happens there, before I decide whether to look elsewhere.
