I have run out of "steam" ... and boxes!
I said last week I had a couple of the 5-question memes to do and that I would do them in order .... I lied! I had 3, and this was the last of the three. The middle set was asked by
1. Tell me about a defining moment in your life.
2. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
3. What's something you would like to learn how to do?
4. Who/what is your biggest inspiration?
5. If you were given a chance to be rich and famous, would you take it, and why or why not?
1. Tell me about a defining moment in your life.
Life is made of moments - and sometimes they can all be defining ... if you let them. For me there are special memories in my mind all the time, but to pick one has been hard. Most of you have been there for the last couple f years ... so you know about the way events have got me to this point. Much of the rest of my life has been a blur of moments starting with school bullying, college friendship, work, moving from Essex to Cornwall ... and all the steps along that route.
But I suppose to pick one it has to be the day I decided I would go to hear James in London. I hear groans and laughs as you read that. However for me it was a big day for many reasons. My first ever gig, staying in London (a city I knew, but had never stayed in) ... but also in telling Mum & Dad that I was doing it. You wold have to both know them, and how I have always tried to live up to their "perfect" ideal to know what a huge step that was. Of course in doing that, I also had a great time, and then made the decision to travel and have my photo taken with James ... certainly a defning step in my life!
2. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
I have loved living in Bude ... but am also looking forward to the next adventure. I suppose I would prefer a city as I love museums (etc). But really I don't think that the location is important - so long as family are near, and computer is available (for LJ) then that is all that matters!
3. What's something you would like to learn how to do?
On a personal level I would love to overcome my fear of "people" ... walking into a room is a nightmare ... that and my fear of spiders & insects.
I never thought I would get my head around a pc as much as I do, so that has taught me that maybe I could learn more. As to what ... I wuld love to learn how to play Bridge.
4. Who/what is your biggest inspiration?
Whenever I get frustrated with them I remember what amazing people my parents are.
Dad left school at 14 spent the war working on the East London Docks ... yet he has a PhD and has written a book, as well as various articles for a Christian magazine. He still plays the piano at Church about 1/3 of the time.
Mum had a nervous breakdown and left school at 15. She has been a true housewife and mum - we always had home-baked food. She learnt classical guitar, cake decorating ... yet when needed (when I was at college) she got a part-time job to help out.
5. If you were given a chance to be rich and famous, would you take it, and why or why not?
Being honest, who doesn't want more money - I'd love to have moved to a bigger house (wouldn't have to throw anything!) ... would love to pay off my brother's mortages ... and especially to visit my friends around the world.
Fame - NO WAY!!! I don't cope with people as I am now, I couldn't cope with that!

Date: 2011-06-28 09:24 pm (UTC)I so get how you hate to enter a room of people. I always feel uneasy doing that. Doesn't matter if it's a room of strangers, co-workers or family. I'm always a bit nervous and feel like I am being judged and found failing.
I so want to learn more about using a computer and a camera. I hate new things. I'm always worried about screwing it up somehow.
I can't imagine that anything I asked would stump you.

Date: 2011-06-29 07:14 am (UTC)I did a computer course some years ago - I signed up as Toni wanted to do it ... then due to marital problems at the time, couldn't go ... so I did it and realised how much I knew - and how to do some basic stuff that works on all programmes. Then, getting on LJ and having people to ask has helped, as well as learning the photoshop stuff ... so not great, but not too bad now!! Same with the camera - I did a course 15 years ago, and cos I had to do the projects I learnt the basics ... now with digital I get lazy! But, at least it doean't cost money on film (+ processing)
Yes, ONE of your questions actually has me stumped - never thought anyone would do that, but you have managed ... I continue to ponder an answe (and I don't just mean a polite or PC one ... just any at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Date: 2011-06-30 08:15 am (UTC)Yes, I had an amazing day - I hope to get a post up this evening.
It's great to get to know more people - and over the last few years one or two of my LJ contacts have become very special friends, which is even better.
