One disadvantage of my job is shown by the logo on the uniform that I wore today ... we all had to wear the same, and were not allowed anywhere else ...



Yes, Norwalk (?sp) Virus!

So rather than our blue it was raspberry coloured.

I was on that ward yesterday when the ward was closed, so although given the option I thought that if I was going to get it, I probably had already been infected ... so back again today.   Should have worn what James is wearing in my icon!

Ugh ugh ugh. Norwalk virus is *horrible*. I had it a few years ago and that was probably the sickest I've ever been in my life. In retrospect, I probably should have gone to the hospital (if for no other reason than dehydration) and I very nearly did... but I set a time I would go if I hadn't stopped throwing up and, thankfully, I had by that point (even though it was a few days before I was able to eat anything). Really nasty business... very much hoping you haven't caught it!!

Thanks - the 2 people infected were in my section today, but as neither were still being sick, I'm hopeful!

I guess this is just another day at work for you. Like me working in retail, we are exposed to all sorts of people in all kinds of condition. Germs will be spread and there is only so much you can do about it. Nothing is as dirty as money. It carries all kinds of germs and I handle it daily. I hope you don't get ill. Keeping fingers crossed you don't come down with anything.

They offered me a swap on day 2, but as I had already worked there ... and there are sick people everywhere I decided that if I was going to get it, I would ... end of story!

My husband worked for a few years in the electronics lab for a cardiac unit in a hospital in NYC. It was pretty standard for the staff to get strep infections. And he had nothing to do with patient care.

I hope you escape infection.

Most of the bugs are in the general enviroment ... so if you are going to get it, you can't avoid it ... unless I borrow James space suit, of course!
