This is what I miss about living in the States. We don't have building like this. I loved the old buildings in the small towns of Germany when we lived there. It gave you a sense of history. The Germans would plant in every tiny inch of land like this as well. Where I come from all the old houses and barns are often left in ruin or torn down to make room for new square houses with no romance to them. Scenes like this are more common here in rural TX:
I remember when we were in Michigan they commented that a building was 100 years old and expected us to be impressed - we have these lovely sights around us so much, that we tend to forget how lucky we are.
The 366 gives me a great excuse to fall back in love with my surroundings.
The colours in that picture of yours are lovely, btw ... Thank you.
I lived in Texas for four years and admit I don't really miss it much. One thing I do miss every April, though, are the bluebonnets and indian paintbrush. They're beautiful.
That's so pretty! It's like a postcard or a painting - and it's just around the block! Seeing bits of people's homes is just another reason I love being on lj.
They are beautiful, aren't they ... only trouble is, as I pointed out to someone else, they tend to have very small windows ... so no good for your crafts in this day & age.
