Poor Little Man

Poor Jiffy hurt his leg a couple of weeks ago - as I mentioned ... but it is still bad, if anything worse. 

It is so sad to see him hopping from time to time.  Marni (his vet) is worried that he may need an operation ... and it's something she isn't willing to do. 

So we have him on some more pills, and pray that this will be the answer.

He's meant to be being lazy ... but this is a doggy we are talking about.  I should ask birds not to fly over, so he doesn't have to chase them!

Did you try a little of your Osteopath-magic on his leg? Maybe, if it doesn´t get completely well, at least it will ease the pain a little..

Poor sweetie. Hope he heals so he won't have to have an operation. Would an operation put too much stress on him? He is an active little doggie. It must upset him that he can't be as active as normal.

His main trouble is that he still runs around (on 3 legs) ... so he is busy, and not resting.

Fortunatley he is only 5, but having said that we want him to have a long happy and healthy future. So we must wait and see how he goes.

One of our previous kelpies (Dusty) ran into a semi-submerged star post (Aussie term - not sure how to explain, a steel fence post for want of a better description) and split open her chest, but we didn't realise until much later because she kept on going and running around and just being her. After she was treated by the vet, he told us to keep her quiet for a few days ... apart from the fact that she was a dog and more importantly, a kelpie, the only way she would be quiet would be with a very, very large dose of what we call 'dogadon' - the dog form of a sedative. Anya enjoys chasing birds in the backyard as much as Jiffy apparently does - dogs don't get keeping quiet. I hope Jiffy recovers well enough to not need an operation but as you so well know, you can't stop a dog being a dog.

Thanks very much for those thoughts Deb (*hugs*) ... yes, telling Jiffy that he should sit down and be quiet are words that just don't register! Birds are always invading - he has obviously seen Hitchcock on TV ... and now has to protect us all!

If you think it will help I'll sent Hummer over to give him lessons on how to be lazy and doing nothing all day *gg* or maybe not as I don't know if he likes chasing cats.

Thank you, Astrid - but you are correct in your second statement ... Jiffy would love to chase Hummer!

Life is busy all day, although he then sleeps well all night - but trying to get him to be lazy all day, is a no-go at present.

Bizarrely, we don't know. There wasn't really another post, as I commented on it in a 366 when I took him to the vets ... but then this week it has got worse again, back to the vets ... and now this news.

Oh no!! What did the vet say? How is he now? Is he okay?

He is a bit better - but not as much as we had hoped.

Sadly he is also battling his regular skin infection, which is really bad this time - so I'm going to take him back to see Marni on Tuesday morning.

He still runs around ... and chases the C-A-T ... and the M-A-G-P-I-E-S ... so it's not suprising he has problems!!
