I was going to write something long and profound about me ... my faith ... my work ... etc ... but RL has taken over.

I really love the work, even after the shift I had earlier!!!!
 
And I can honestly say that the Bank Office have, so far, been great about booking me a shift per day ... not weekends ... so full time work, but on days I want.  Considering a hospital runs 24 hours a day, it's great that I don't have to do unsocial days and times if I don't want to (although it is a slightly higher rate of pay - so I may do an odd shift, anyway!)

My only complaint is the 7.30am start if the earlies, which means I leave Mum and Dad's at 6.25!!!!  My brain is still getting round that idea ... as is Jiffy, who doen't like early mornings!

Anyway - life is great.

Must get some icons done for a couple of small competitions!

If any of you have 5 minutes, go and vote at wts_icontest  here ... you will see how stunning some of the work is that's around ... and how many uses of the colour Yellow they could find (I set the challenge this week, so although I did 4 examples, none of mine are in there!)

7:30 is an early start. When do you end? 4:30? Around here, hospitals run 7-4 or 7-7 work shifts.

I do medium days most of the time - 7.so-3.30 ... but if you do long days it's 7.30 - 8.30 (13 hours ... night is the same!)

However they do afternoon/evening/lunchtime etc ... so you can be quite thrown around - but is good if you are working around a family.

So are you living at your mum and dad's during the week now? I'm glad you're getting shifts that suit you (though don't envy you the early starts) and it's good that there's the possibility for more should you want them.

I'm at Torquay much of the time at present, which has quite a few downsides ... I go to Bude one day a week to catch up with the bills, if nothing else! I really am thinking seriously about selling up, and buying something near Exeter - but need to work out finance + location.

Yes, the shifts are great - I had 5 this week - 5 bookd for next week ... so good to have the varity of work (as I change wards a lot on Bank)

How does your scheduling work - are you prn or working through an agency? I'm glad they can get shifts that suit you. (And yes, that's way too early - I have trouble getting to work by 9:00!)

I leave a list of the following weeks non-available times at the office, and they let me know what times and where I'm woring on the Thursday. I work for the actual hospital, on Bank ... so as well as assorted times, I do assorted wards. They are pretty fleible - although I'm happy to be fairly busy at present, which is great ... and still don't have to do weekends.

YAY Glad that you have so much shifts as you want on the days you like. I'm thinking you're not a morning person? For me it was always the late and or night shifts that gave me trouble. Although you tend to get use to them if you do it often enough *g*

I am really pleased - especially as I don't have to do weekends if I don't want, yet still get work. It's great.

I don't mind the earlies too much, but being at Mum & Dad's means it's hard to organise food, as Mum can be ultra-helpful, which means that I end up saying No and buying meals! At least with earlies, i should get time in the evening to make icons - you ended up getting me too hooked!

They were amazing, weren't they - I can assure you that the votes on most were close, although the #1 was a clear favourite.

WoW, early mornings do suck but I'm glad that otherwise you seem to like your shift. How long are they?

Most of the mornings/earlies are 7.30 - 1.30 or 3.30 ... I ususally do the 3.30's.

If you dod a long day (or night) they are 7.30 - 8.30 (yes 13 hours)

Oh I hate mornings...

That's very early. What time do you need to get up if you're leaving at 6.25am?!?
But YAY for shifts on days you asked!

I read the comments and I agree, relocating to Exeter might be a sound option. Hopefully you find something!

I don't mind mornings, too much - but before 6am is the night still!!!

I recon about 45 mins to get up, washed, breakfast etc.

Yes, I shall seriously think about the relocate.
