2011 - Day 83
Thursday, March 24th, 2011 06:43 pmI hate having my photo taken (well except if next to a certain someone!) ... but I got Mum to take this today when I got in from work, so you could see what the uniform looks like - it makes me look fat!! (And, I've lost a few pounds!!) ... what with that and my squiffy eye ... not great, but am still sharing!
Don't know what Florence Nightingale would have made of it!
PS - I'm not allowed jewellery, so the bracelet goes back on as I leave and I forgot to remove it for the pic (it's a magnetic Copper one)

Oh my passport photo - I look naked as the flash was so harsh it blended my bare neck with my T-shirt top !!!! So the face is the least of my worries!

Date: 2011-03-24 07:33 pm (UTC)They may not flatter, but we all wear them and they are colour co-ordinated, which is easier to point out people, and know who should do what!

Date: 2011-03-24 07:35 pm (UTC)They are very adaptable as well work, so that is the main thing. Although I do wonder how hot they'll be in the summer, as they are heavy-ish material ... and with gloves all the time ...!

Date: 2011-03-24 07:51 pm (UTC)Either that, or after a long shift you can just go straight to bed, as they look like pj's!

Date: 2011-03-24 07:55 pm (UTC)But no jewellery!! You must feel almost naked without your rings.
And I think you look great, despite the shapelessness of the uniform.

Date: 2011-03-24 08:09 pm (UTC)Yes, we are all colour co-ordinated, so it means we are all the same ... but different! It is very comfy to work in, although (what with gloves) I think it will be hot in sunmmer, as it is fairly heavy-duty.
Yes, the jewellery ting has been hard - as I type this now, my hands look weird, in fact Mum only commented yesterday that she finds it funnt to see my hands ... Friday, shift ends ... home ... on goes rings!!!

Date: 2011-03-24 08:01 pm (UTC)Those kinds of uniforms simply are like that - you should see me in my kitchen-uniform..plus I have to wear a hairnet!!! *shudders* I don´t like! No jewelry allowed either, same goes for makeup *sigh*
No one recognizes me once I´m changed into my street clothes...all the residents are so used to see me dressed in white from head to toe, and believe me, I look ridiculous!! But see for yourself (and yes, you are allowed to laugh LOL):

Thank God I didn´t wear my hair-net there! LOL
*hugs you*

Date: 2011-03-26 12:25 am (UTC)I do try to keep a positive smile, and a chat if I have a minute - a positive attitude is great to help the patient ... both for them and for me. And, as I ove the job, I can do that most(!!) of the time.

Date: 2011-03-26 12:30 am (UTC)Very adaptable though for care - moving people, washing etc ... great. We all wear them - we are all in the same situation.
"Been there, done that" - when I trained as an osteopath that was our uniform then ... White easily goes grey ( and stains) ... and the tight dresses "ride up" when you move - show knicker lines etc ... so, no, the Scrubs win!!!
