I live in a town where it basically doesn't snow - 4 days of it in 25 years ... so look at the view out of my bedroom window, this morning!

It hadn't been forecast, and hasn't been mentioned in the news & weather - the only reason I know that it wasn't a figment of my imagination was that on the way to thwe sdhops earlier ... yep ... I slipped over and now have my right wrist strapped ... hoping to at least slow the swelling! It isn't broken - just very sore!
Oh well, the advantage of this town is that they have actually gritted the road at lunchtime - yet my brother who lives in Exeter (a city) can't move his car for ice - after the snow 2 days ago!
Hope everyone else is warm ... and safe ... well unless you live the other side of the equator, and then I hope you aren't too hot!

Date: 2010-12-22 02:37 pm (UTC)At least, it isn't deep snow. Is cold enough that it will stay this way or will it be gone quickly?
This is about the amount of snow we get in TX when it does snow. Then by afternoon, it's all messy and melted. If the night is cold then it freezes over again as ice for us. Make the roads slippery and dangerous. We don't really have the equipment to grit the streets. We only have trucks that spread sand about, but it does little other than make a mess.
Glad you didn't hurt yourself any worse. Will it beg you off cooking or anything for the holidays?

Date: 2010-12-22 03:25 pm (UTC)Snow is till the same in my back garden - but the road is mostly thawed - it helps that it has now been partially gritted.
I'm hoping my wrist will be better by the time i go back to Mum & Dad's - otherwise I will also get an "ear-bashing" from Mum on my carelessness!! !!

Date: 2010-12-22 06:41 pm (UTC)Where I live is easy compared with other parts of my country. Sadly, as we aren't used to it, we find it hard to cope ... Northern Europe have snow chains for cars etc.

Date: 2010-12-22 07:15 pm (UTC)Not too hot here, just very wet. I don't know why I bothered to get the pool all ready to use for Christmas, it is going to keep raining until at least Boxing day.
Have a lovely Christmas, sweetie.

Date: 2010-12-22 08:09 pm (UTC)I must take pics before most of the snow is gone. Hope you won't get more than this!
Hope your wrist will be not to bad / okay soon!
And because I'm posting here anyway I want to express and not wait till I write a message:
thank you so much for your virtual gift - especially thinking of me!

I was thinking about the snow again when I was about to fall asleep and remembered from last year that you don't have special snow tire in England; makes even little snow worse.
I haven't uploaded pics, I want to wait if it is changing with new snow tomorrow (for now it's melting, getting less).

This is the nearest webcam (weather cam) I've found. Oh and here. When you click at the "Tageslicht" Button you'll see that there has been more snow. Thanks to the rain it's melting. And it lights the Christmas tree. *g*
I only hope they can fix the new road works; they locked the street I usually drive that's more even without a hill to drive. Otherwise it's driving uphill next days.

Date: 2010-12-23 10:58 am (UTC)LOL - roadworks - yes, when I drove back to Bude 2 days ago got through the ice and fog no worries - then 2 lots of work stopped me in Bude!! Hope this link works - as you can see it is thawing, just overnight ice that is a problem

Date: 2010-12-23 11:28 am (UTC)Here they said on the radio they have not enough salt again. They have not enough for re-order and the re-ordered one will be more expensive. And the communities don't have that much money at the moment and try not to use too much salt (some streets aren't done at all). But it sucks when you have to drive there.
So save drives for you!

Date: 2010-12-23 10:53 am (UTC)Yes, I love LJ and one of the many reasons is realising that friends are planning pool parties while others are changing their plans as they are knee deap in snow!
