I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way they handle these three things: A rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights. 

I've learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're gone from your life.

I've learned that making a 'living' is not the same as making a 'life.'

I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.

I've learned that you shouldn't go through life just being a doormat.   You need to throw something back.

I've learned that to decide something with an open heart, you usually make the right decision.

I've learned that when I have pain, I don't have to be one.

I've learned that you should reach out and touch someone.   People love a hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.

I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.

Deborah, wow you have learned some pretty important things.

I've learned that you shouldn't go through life just being a doormat. You need to throw something back.

Those are my two favorites. The way people make me feel is so much more important then what they did or said. If I don't feel that they mean well I tend to not have them in my life for much longer.

In comes the second, I have learned to also say it when they make me feel like I don't matter, to speak up for myself.

Those are the moments when I tend to forget them. I'm getting better at it but not there yet. We can't expect the feelings and reactions we've learned in years from when being little to change overnight. I was bullied as a kid and only when I was already a mother I learned a little to speak up for myself. I'm doing it more and more now. We just have to remind each other to do just that.
