Actor ~ Actress Meme
Friday, July 9th, 2010 11:30 amLet me start however with huge thanks to
Now to memeing ... I snagged this from
Comment and I will give you ten actors and ten actresses. Then post in your Livejournal with your favorite films of theirs.
And, here are the list of people she gave me
Actors:
1. James Masters
2. Cary Grant
3. Alan Rickman
4. Alan Alda
5. James Stewart
6. Spencer Tracy
7. Tony Curtis
8. John Malkovich
9. Colin Firth
10. Richard Harris
Actresses:
1. Maggie Smith
2. Audrey Hepburn
3. Katherine Hepburn
4. Dame Judy Dench
5. Emma Thompson
6. Helen Mirren
7. Diane Keaton
8. Meryl Streep
9. Glenn Close
10. Mia Farrow
The sad thing is that a few of the names I had to Google to see which films they have been in.
Actors:
1. James Masters
James has been in 2 films that I do genuinely love ... and those are "High Plains Invaders" and "Moonshot" I think my favourite is Moonshot, as it was great to see James playing a real-life person. He was showing an amazing ability to lip-sync, as well as giving us an idea of what those early astronauts had to go through. And, yesterday, SQUEEEE - the film is nominated for an Emmy.
2. Cary Grant
I love so many of his films ... this is hard. I love him in Holiday. North by Northwest, Arsenic & Old Lace, Operation Peticoat, to name but 4 that cover a wide range of both years and styles. I suppose one of those that shows a lot of his versitility is "Monkey Business" (so, although not my favourite, it's a good film if you want to see who I'm talking about!)
3. Alan Rickman
Come on ... who doesn't love the evil Sheriff in Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves
4. Alan Alda
Mostly I know him from the 251 episodes on M*A*S*H he was in - brilliant. But one film I saw years ago and still remember is the 1978 one "Same time, next year"
5. James Stewart
I'm not a Jimmy Stewart fan, yet 3 of his films are ones I do like. The Glenn Miller Story (I love the music), The Shop around the corner and You Can't Take It With You, made in 1938 ... the whole film is truly brilliant!
6. Spencer Tracy
Again another actor who isn't a favourite, however I do love "Father of the Bride"
7. Tony Curtis
I love Spartacus, The Vikings, Operation Peticoat and Some Like It Hot ... but I think the Some Like It Hot is one of those films that should never be re-made.
8. John Malkovich
The only film that rang a bell was The Man in the Iron Mask, which is a fil that I do like ... when I googled, it was also the only one of his I remembered seeing!
9. Colin Firth
The guy we all love from Pride & Prejudice ... but his favourite film would be Bridget Jones Diary (I don't like the 2nd film at all, btw)
10. Richard Harris
There are a few of his I like, including The Cassandra Crossing and Camelot; however my favourite of his films is one I like, set in WWII and based on a true story called The Heroes of Telemark.
Actresses:
1. Maggie Smith
I love her in th Harry Potter films, but my favourite fil that she was in is Sister Act
2. Audrey Hepburn
She didn't make as many films as some, but there were some beautiful ones such as Breakfast at tiffany's, The Nun's Story, My Fair Lady, Sbrina fair, but I am going to chose one of her earliest, Roman Holiday - her beauty and joy, added to the scenery makes a great film.
3. Katherine Hepburn
She was great in Bringing up Baby as well as The Philadelphia story, but I am going to chose The African Queen (providing I can fast-forward the scene with the flies!)
4. Dame Judy Dench
An actress I don't know much about, but I do love her as M ... and my favourite is Tomorrow Never Dies (of the ones she has been in)
5. Emma Thompson
An actress I know nothing about ... and when I looked her up on imdb, as far as I can see, I have never seen any of her films ... other than the Harry potter one, and I don't remember who she was!
6. Helen Mirren
Another unknown actress ... no, I haven't seen her work, although I had heard of many of them!
7. Diane Keaton
They filmed a scene of one of her films, Reds, at the building we were using for a short time while I was at college ... but I didn't see her (or Warren Beatty!) ... I do like the film Baby Boom, which may be a bit corny, but is still fun to re-watch.
8. Meryl Streep
I went through her list of films, and although I have seen quite a few of them, weirdly I have yet to see one I liked! Sorry Ms Streep!
9. Glenn Close
As far as favourite films go, you don't have to think further than 101 Dalmations - great film ... but the stars all have 4 legs, don't they?
10. Mia Farrow
Another actress I don't know any of her work!
~~~~~~~
Well, I have now realised that I watch a film by seeing who the male lead is ... I notice the males, and only occasionally does an actress enter my subconscious!
Didn't Helen Mirren win an Oscar for playing the Queen?
