Another Meme ... Go On - Ask Me!
Tuesday, April 27th, 2010 08:40 amAs ever I think I'm pretty open ... But as I have just asked questions on 2 of my friends LJs, I have to re-post in case I have forgotten to let you know something.
So, here is the meme I snagged ... from
jaded_jamie and
null
Everyone has things about which they blog. Everyone has things about which they don't blog.
Challenge me out of my comfort zone, by telling me something I don't discuss here about which you'd like to read, and I'll write answer in comments or a post about it in the coming days.
Ask anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, thoughts on alfalfa, favourite type of underwear, graphic techniques, etc.
When you have asked a question, then you should Re-post this. But you honestly dont have to if you dont want!
So - go ahead, I challenge you to find a question I haven't already answered!

Date: 2010-04-27 07:27 pm (UTC)Dad - He's 85 and was a lecturer in Business Studies and Production Management when he retired. Before that he had been a repair engineeron the tugs of East London during the war. Then also worked on design of the first stereo record players in the 50s.
Dad is loyal .... and will make you a cup of tea as often as you want ... but he does sulk if he thinks he is being told off ... and he's quick to blame himself. Comes from not being wanted when a kid.
Wow - that's a long answer!
Mum - is a housewife and a Mum. Although she has worked P/T in a shop when I was at college ... and was a Tupperware dealer for 4 years.
She is great, but is very smothering ... she tries it with the boys, but they have an escape. If I vaguely hint at anything ... well, lets just say ... she is great with emotional blackmail!!
Nick - is 4 1/2 years younger than me ...a nd my fault! Mum was told she couldn't have more kids ... but I prayed for a baby brother! He is Head of Maths and IT at Downside Boarding School, Stratton-on-the-Fosse. He is married to Brenda who is lazy ... Nick cooks irons etc ... the boys are busy at school ... Brenda enjoys coffee mornings!
Andrew - 14 1/2 (know it all)
Dan - 12 (Gentle)
Thomas - 10 (sporty and quick witted)
Joe - 7 (spoilt rotten)
Nick is very un-emotional, buttoned up. Sadly I don't know the last time we chatted - but he never fails to e-mail both me and Mum every week. Brenda is pretty one-dimensional ... so they suit each other! They attend a Baptist.
Tim - 6 years younger than me (almost to the day). He is a Legal Exec that has specialized in Family law. Claire is a Tax Officer. They happily don't want/have kids ... and are still as in love as they were 20 years ago when they married. They now attend a C of E.
Hard to find something bad - but I wish Tim kept more regularily in touch ... but when we meet it's as if we were 1/2 way through the chat. I am close to them both.

Date: 2010-04-28 07:24 am (UTC)I love her dearly and get the smothering ... just do find it hard to cope with - hse has a tough time thinking of me nearing 50, and thinks f me as a bullied 15 year old! Great ... but ... !!!
Yes, the denomination thingy is tough. I will admit I am the tradtitional side of the coin .... but unlike some Brethren, I also love a traditional CofE .... with the old prayer book!!
BTW - I have screened your answer for you.

Date: 2010-04-27 07:14 pm (UTC)Spuffy -
I starting watching BtVS near the end of season 7 - love at first sight with a blond guy! I had always avoided Buffy as I didn't "do" witches/demons etc. Then had friends visit ... saw Spike (swoon!) I then saw the amazing actor as well as the bad guy who had gained a soul for love of a girl. I have a deep faith, and this love was just so amazing ... I bought the DVDs ... and just fell in love with the Spuffy story.
I had been told at school that I couldn't write, but when I watched the 7 series, I wanted to write a new happy ending - so I did, discovered other fan-fic ... LJ ... and here I am!
Jiffy -
He, like all the dogs in the past is Mum and Dads .... but I spend my weekends with them all. He will be 4 in 3 weeks time.
My first ever dog was Perry ... a blue roan Cocker Spaniel, who was my first love ... and my shadow and had a heart attack when he was 4 1/2 and died in my arms, when I was 27. He broke my heart - and I said I would never get involved again!
Then a few months later Mum and Dad had a white Spaniel ... Misty (!) ... he lived to be 15 1/2 ... I loved him, but he was quieter, so had less to do with him.
Then there was a gap of a few years and along came the bundle of energy called Jiffy.
