Icons & Planes

This is just a quick "hi" as I am grabbing a few minutes on Dad's pc - so don't have time to check your posts, or to reply to comments - I'll catch up tomorrow ... promise.

I have glanced through these new details about the LJ icons and, I'm still confused, even though cordykitten has re-explained it all to me!   I am presuming I won't lose the 120 I have and will only "have" to renew in February when my contractis up ... but as to adding to ... well I shall again wait till I have time to try to make sense of it all.

As most of you know there are no flights here - not that it affects me, but know of people who are stuck in the wrong country ... or can't get away on their holiday.  And, sadly I know that this is effecting cryssiemarsters - so I hope that she is able to spend some of her extended trip enjoying London.

Wonder if it will still eb around next week - for James' trip to Germany.

Still on a positive note - my friend Toni was very happy to be stuck at home - she is meant to be in Spain ... but can't stand her step-daughter ... so avoids the meeting for another few months!  So, it's not all bad news - although I do feel sorry for those whose weddings etc have ended up being cancelled.

Well, I must get the washing up done!

I had wondered if you would - I met someone in London in February from The Netherlands and she said she had bought her ticket last week! Her name is strikske, btw

Britain is still closed - but maybe by Thursady/Friday Germany will be OK.

Germany is completely closed as well. Still no sign of things opening. But the airlines are trying to figure out what damages could happen to a plane. At least, by the time of FedCon they could have figured out other means of transportation.

Since I have been pretty much out of it tv and internet wise with work, I didn't know about the volcano/ash until an email came out at work about cargo being held as well. So not only are individuals grounded but so are air cargo shipments :( that's not good news for the freight forwarding industries.

It's weird - but we in Britain have been closed 5 days - and there are a lot of people stuck abroad ... and a lot of visiters stuck here. No news as to how long it is going on, either.

Yes, this plane thing is crazy. My parents were meant to be going on holiday to Egypt 6am tomorrow morning, theyve had to cancel it. Fortunately they got their money back, but mum was in tears cos she was looking forward to it so much. They can't go away at all this year now as my dads job won't let him take any other time off.

But it could be wrose. I've got a friend in Australia who can't get home, and a friend in America who can't get home either. Pretty scary really, glad it doesn't affect me directly!

Yes, I have friends in a few countries who are trapped - the worry is the "not knowing" ... Glad your parents got a refund, even if their plans were thrown - at least the weather is good for them to have an English break.

Oh right - if you have to fly it might be a bit difficult. Hopefully they open the airports again till then.

I've thought again about the user pics - if I understand it correctly the remaining time you have left for your icons will be divided between all the packages (say: 3) you have then. Would mean for me that they will short the time because it has to last for lets say 3 packages instead one.

Yes, I think I have now got it sorted - I suppose it is hard to explain with us all on different rates - and different dates!

ah the planes... We have a few employees stuck either here or in Ireland (one possibly in Germany) who will most likely need to stay where they are for another week. My parents' flight to Amsterdam yesterday was cancelled (but my dad is determined to go somewhere so they may still get away just not to Holland).

They are using some Royal Navy ships to get people home via Spain, but that only started today, so will take some organisation.

Hope the family gat away somewhere - it's a pity they couldn't get to Western Europe as we are having good weather at present!
