Today In Bude

Just to say that I had a walk today - partly to get some fresh air ... and partly some exercise.

I took the camera, so there are a couple of photos ...



Sadly this swan is alone - his other half was killed last year -

Bude's canal was very active for a few years - so there are one or two properties that are still around from that era - I must take a better picture of it!

Yes, the council applied for another swan, but were told to see if one naturally joined, which I thought was a bit mean ... but with swans they are a monitered bird (they are owned by the Queen!)

It is true they mate for life, and everyone wondered if this one would survive, as he did mourn ... will have to wait and see what this season brings.

Actually - that is the first time I've ever heard it!!! True - "neat" is a word we associate with tidy - although know you Colonials use it for a different reason - so, yes, you are the #1!!

We also use "neat" for "tidy" but use the slang meaning just as much if not more often. I'm sure that gets very confusing for non-American English speakers!
