Ask Anything MEME
Thursday, October 22nd, 2009 01:05 pmI have done this MEME in the past - but couldn't resist snagging again - Thank you rivertempest !!
The problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. So ask me something you want to know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away. Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.
I really like this meme. And you can ask anything, nothing is verboten, taboo, forbidden
So - go ahead .... ask!!

Date: 2009-10-22 01:28 pm (UTC)(It is a large pot!!)
Mum and Dad had spaniels in the past, and Misty had been 15 1/2 when he died a couple of years before then. Mum wanted another dog - Dad said they were too old. Mum's eventually winning argument was that she didn't ask for much, and if this was the last thing she got to ask for, dad would be upset if he didn't do it.
They met a couple with a Westie who was small and quite - so decided to change breeds - and got the large bundle of life that is Jiffy.
I will admit to being worried - but he has been very good for them both. Dad wouldn't now miss a walk, and he is company for them both.
He knows I come and go - and on a Sunday waves goodbye as I "go yo Bude" ... so much so, other visitors also tell him they are "going to Bude" ... he must think I have lots of friends!

Date: 2009-10-22 01:33 pm (UTC)Mum and Dad had spaniels before that - Misty was 15.5 when he died a couple of years previously - and Mum wanted another. Dad said they were too old. Her winning argument was that she didn't often ask for something - so if this were her last request, dad would be upset if he hadn't done it!
They saw someone with a small quiet Westie, and decided to change breeds - so the large bundle of fun arrived.
I will admit I was a bit worried, but Jiffy has done them good - he is company for them both, dad never misses a walk - and he keeps them organised!

Date: 2009-10-22 01:38 pm (UTC)When I started my training, I hadn't thought about the "touching" bit. Day 3, we had to strip to our underwear and learn how to position each other on the treatment table. WOW!!! I think though, I was more scared of removing my own clothes - to say I was shy, unsure .......... etc now, is nothing compared with my 18 year old self. Having come from a time of bullyng it was a ahrd thing to do - thus it was easier to touch my collegue!
We did this for a year, before woring on patients ... so that bit is OK. Until recently I hadn't thought about it, but working at Plympton I find a nightmare - no receptionist - and I hate approaching the person in the witing area to find out if they are my or mike's patient. So, the unsurety has come, 26 years afet qualification.
The other point to remember is that with my training, I have a double advantage - the other being that they are in their undies, and therefore more vulnerable, even if I don't always feel that way deep inside.
Great question, btw!

Date: 2009-10-22 04:52 pm (UTC)My next friend I met when I was 7 - Penny. She and I went to a very posh school and were always in trouble - paint fights weren't popular! We split at 9, as I changed schools, but she was again in my class at 11 - and although wasn't one of my bullies, she was friends with them.
My real friends from the day they were born, were my 2 brothers - and although Nick and I are further apart now, Tim (6 years younger) is one om best friends - as is his wife.

ETA - Did you see the pic I posted in answer to Carries question?

Date: 2009-10-23 09:57 am (UTC)I suppose the stock answer is photos - yes, some of my later ones are on photobucket - but ones when I was a kid, my grandparents, Jaykub, etc - irreplacable.
There are a few items I wouldn't want destroyed either - my granfathers WWI medals, a picture that was up in their house, and is now in my treatment room, my first teddies (that are at Mum and Dad's).
Ironically I had a burst pipe in Bude 13 years ago - and I immediately knew that things were not really of value. Some people suprised me by saying I must have been sad to loose the TV!!
Mum and Dad had a burglary some years ago and I lost some stuff - and it was the sentimental pieces I miss the most.
So - no one specific thing ..... I'll need a large packing crate!
