Date: 2009-08-11 12:36 pm (UTC)1) English Chips!
Sorry, not crisps, not fries, but fat chips made with real potatoes, and served in one of 2 ways -
a) With salt & vinegar and wrapped in newspaper.
b) Cut 2 thick slices of freshly baked crusty white bread, spread liberally with butter, add chips - eat! A Chip Butty!!
2) Fruit - especially plums. But I like them fresh, or in puddings - I don't like sweet and savoury mixed.
3) Syrup pudding - either a syrup sponge, or a syrup tart ... hot or cold!
4) Tomatoes - raw, cooked ... any way you want.
5) Anzac biscuits ... well, any oaty/syruppy biscuit really.

Date: 2009-08-13 07:20 pm (UTC)1 - I love the whole of the 23rd Psalm ... but especially verse 4 ... I walk "through" the valley - it just reminds me that however dark the days - we walk through, with God, to the other side. I heard this ina sermon one week before I was in a tragic situation - and all that got me through that day was this verse.
2 - John 14 - v1-2 ... In the traditional Authorised version I grew up reading it is great, as it says - "In my Father's house are many mansions, I go to prepare a place for you" So a reminder of a future with our Saviour ... in an amazing location!
3 - Rev 21 v 4 - God will wipe away all tears.
4 - 1 Peter 5 v7 - Casting all your care on Him, for He cares for you.
5 - Lamentations 3 - v 23, 26 - Great is Thy faithfullness ... It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. That 2nd verse may not mean what I take it for - but it was a verse I read when I was very low thinking about 2 special people in my life who aren't believers ... and I take it in their name, and continue to pray, with faith, that they will believe one day.
It's hard choosing 5, but they are special verses - a couple for special reasons.
