366 MEME - Day 171 - Spuffy!!

Actually I am just printing out the stories I will be reading in the Spark and Burn competition. I've read 3 of them before - so must see if I can find them, the rest are new - and as I am typint this, another fic is being printed out.



Some of these are, as ever, not ones I would have chosen ... and even worse, some are WIPs ... but it is good to challenge myself ... and even better to honour those writers who give me so much pleasure all te year through.

Yes, finish the WIP - then I can get to read it! I hate reading them, even when I know the author, I always wait for the 2 words The End to be added!

The worst part is I have the ending written. I just need to get them there! ARGH! LOL

Still I can't really moan, as I have written nothing at all for ages! And I still have a part written story that I started about 2 years ago! I must get thinking when I finish this judging.

Nothing is as heartbreaking as falling in love with a WIP and it never gets finished. Read many wonderful stories and keep checking to see if they are ever finished.

At least, you are getting to read a varied type of stories. Must be difficult to judge stories that aren't your cuppa tea. Bravo you.

Oh yes, I got caught a lot in the early days of fan-reading ... Now I wait for a fic to finish.

It's interesting, but doing this has opened my eyes to fics and genres I wouldn't normally read - yet loved.

As to judging - very hard! Last time I had my normal 3 catagories, but in one of them there wer 7 long fics I had already read - and already loved ... how to decide was hard. I do not put the author on, and that normally helps so I don't know if I know the writer - but I do have some people I know in these readings, as well.

Still - it's Spuffy, so, can't complain!

It is a good challenge - the fourth time I have done it for Spark and Burn.

A lot to read. About the WIPs - most what I read is WIP but it's very sad to see so many not finished, especially old ones when you stumble upon an author you didn't read before.

Yes, I've made that mistake a few times, so now (other than while doing this judging) I wait for a fic to be completed before I read it.
