Within Britain, bilingual road signs are usually only seen in the principality of Wales ... is that what you are thinking, well, as you can see here you are incorrect.

I pass this sign every time I come back from DJ, and there are identical signs on all the borders of the Duchy of Cornwall, with the County of Devon.

Oh what a beautiful road sign!! And I so want to be able to speak gaelic (is this the right word?) But everytime I try my tongue is aching afterwards! :) Do you speak gaelic?

Yes - Cornish Gaelic. Cornwall, although a county in England, also prides itself in being a Celtic Country as well!

No - I can't even manage the bit of French I learnt at school!

Of course..if one county deserves to be called Celtic County, then it´s Cornwall! It´s so mystical!!

Oh good..I learnt French too (one year only), but I forgot almost everything!

Is Cornish a Gaelic language? I used to take Scots Gaelic lessons, but our "class" devolved into a defacto supper club. Fun, but we never made it passed, "Cimair a tha thu?"

I should drag out my tapes again.

Yes, Cornwall is a County, a Duchy and prides itself as being a Celtic Country, as well!

I can't even remember the French I learnt at school, so no way can I attempt Gaelic!!

I lived from age 6 weeks to 6 years in North Wales, and it is on every sign there - we just have it on the Devon-Cornwall border.

That's welsh, right? I've got no idea about the second languages. I know about welsh and my friend Glynis complained that the "gaelic" (sp?) in Scotland isn't used, but should be, just like the welsh in wales :)

Yes, the Welsh really try to maintain the language - but in Scotlan, nothing. Cornish Gaelic is taught in evening classes, but just to a few. It is a way of trying to prove we are actually a separate country here, not just a separate county!
