Dreamwidth ~ FaceBook

Am I just being stubborn ... don't all rush to agree!!

I haven't done Dreamwidth, but think I am about the only one who hasn't.

I did Insane and greatest Jounals about 18 months ago, and never used them. So couldn't see the point with this.

I like LiveJournal, and have it set up as I want. I, more importantly, I love my friends, so hope I don't lose any to DW.

It's like FaceBook -

To be honest, I don't use it, and came close to closing the account. But was then friended by a friends teenage daughter. As they live the other side of the country, thats great. So, I keep the account - but don't do any of the memes, etc that go on. I don't like the layout and find the system confusing.

So this is also an apology (and explanation) to LJ friends who may think I am ignoring them - I'm not ... Just I don't "do" FaceBook.

I'm glad there's someone else not getting a dreamwidth account! It felt like I was the only one. I don't really see the point, I doubt I'd use it and all the community is still over here (at least, I think so!), so...

I have a facebook and I check it often, but I don't spend hours on there playing the games and doing the quizzes etc. like some people *coughmysistercough*

I opened a Facebook account, for no other reason than to get some information on someone who'd been emailing me. I picked up a few people who I know in RL, and peeked at my daughter's page, but I haven't been back since. Really not feeling a need for it.

Thanks for confirming I am not the only one who hasn't loved faceBook. Good to keep in touch with a couple of people - that's it!

I see your recent post that you are doing DW for personal stuff - I suppose for people like yourself who value your Spuffy privacy then the 2 accounts become a good idea.

I may be further out of the loop than you. I haven't even heard of Dreamwidth yet. :) I do have a facebook page. But nothing much personal goes there because there are WAY too many people there I know or have known 'IRL'. haha.

Most of the rest of my f-list have ended up having the 2 accounts and linking them - why? Their reasoning is that if LJ goes then they will have back-up! So, glad to know there are others out there just happy with LJ, and like me not using their FaceBook!

I really can't see the point in doing Dreamwidth, If there wasn't LJ then perhaps it would be an option, but I can't see the reasoning in having two very similar things on the go,I joined up for Greatest journal a while back but never used it.
I find the best way to use Facebook is to ignore all the silly add on things like the quizzes and other daft things and just use it to post normal messages.
I usually go down my list of friends and use the hide option on all the add on bits that show up when they update too.

Mmm - maybe I will try that and look at FaceBook occasionally, as well.

GJ is gone; out of the others blogs I've got IJ is the one I use the most. There is a place to check when LJ is down. :D

It's on the link list of my IJ. I don't have facebook.
The other blogs I have to save my name there.

I've got Dreamwidth because they give you the opportunity to save your LJ over there. That's what I did. I never saved it before, don't have a program for it. With DW you don't need it. But I won't pay money for it to get a perm account (neither a paid one) when I don't use it so much. And with only 6 icons I won't use it much anyway). So crossposting doesn't make sense.

I have my LJ backed up with a programme on my computer - so unless I lose my hard drive it goes there - I got the link from bendybendy I think!

No Dreamwidth for me I struggle to keep up with LJ. I made a GJ when everybody had a panic over the sale of LJ awhile ago but never used it so I deleted it.
I would not have got Facebook if it hadn't been for some older family members who use it. So now I have only family, personal friends and a few special o/s friends who I hope to meet on day on there - no strangers!!

Yes, I made the GJ which is why I didn't bother about DW - but then it seemed to continue, so I wondered if I was just burying my head in the sand!
