Is It Me?

I don't ususlly do anything political here - in fact I think this is a first.

Just wondered if others agreed with me though about a Party Political Broadcast I have just seen.

For the non-Europeans, we have European elections soon, and each of the parties are showing "adverts" around news time.

Well, I have just seen one, today, and was annoyed to see that rather than say what they agreed with, they spent their 5 minutes saying the bad that one of the other parties may do.

To me this is wrong - but is that only me?

Whatever way you vote, is not something that worries me, what annoyed me was one party running down another, and having nothing positive to say about their own plans.

Is it just me - or doesn't that worry you?

Or-  Have I mis-judged the ad?

US politics are like that too sadly. Rather than being up bring themselves up, they're all about knocking the other guy down. I find it sad and annoying also. :(

Yeah, it's speculation and downright nasty what they do on those. I'm with you on this, I just don't like it.

Oh dear....another import from the USA I think! Our campaigns have run this way for several years now and it tends to work (mores the shame)...few bother to check facts or even care about the truth. The smear tactics deflect from the fact that no ideas are being presented. You have my sincere sympathy!

Kathleen

PS it has the term Rovian here (for Karl Rove the "genius" behind such campaigning).

Heh. It's par for the course for political races here. I can't tell you how glad I was when the last Presidential campaign was over. THAT went on for two years - first with the party primaries and then with the main election. Insane.

Every four years we suffer though all the mud slinging of the different presidential candidates. The only bright spot for me is Sat. Night Live political skits. Sarah Palin was good for many funny moments this last year.

Was it the UKIP one (which I also happened to catch last night)?

Ah. UKIP spent their 5 minutes explaining how everything Brussels did was invasive and messed with people's wheelie bins.

Don't think I could have coped with a Labour one. (Or Conservative for that matter.) *hates politics*

Oh I missed Europe invading the bins ...
Oh they also tax landfill sites, so you won't escape!!!! (I presume this is to encourage recycling, which I can't help but think is a good thing. Also, as a Danish citizen who can live & work in this country just like that I have to say that I think the EU is a good thing! *g*)
