I snagged this meme form [livejournal.com profile] lupina78  - she has the best memes :-

Leave a comment and I'll:
1. Tell you why I friended you. (If I can even remember! If not it'll just be why we are still friends, aha)
2. Associate you with something - fandom, a song, a color, a photo, a word etc.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you. (To which you must respond!)
6. Tell you my favorite user pic of yours.
7. In return, you must post this in your LJ.

The question she asked me was :-

If you get the chance to visit the past (history-like)in which time and place would you go?

I love the eighteenth/nineteenth centuries, in Britain ... but to do that I would have to been born into aristocracy (which rules me out!).    Or, going back to Roman times, that was an amazing time of culture and invention.

However I think going back to when my Grandparents were born, and their parents were younger, ie 1870 - 1890 ... that would have been great to have been born then.  So much change and developement, and women gaining their independance.  The other period of history I admire are both the world wars - no, I'm not necessarily talking politics here, but the fact that as countries the people mostly worked for the good of the group .... that is a great idea to be part of.

I may (at present) occasionally moan about being single - but in 2009 that is OK, most other eras, it would have been very hard!  So, Andy, very hard question - and really, when I start thinking, I would love day trips to visit people - Queen Elizabeth I, King Arthur, Queen Victoria ... but I think, overall I shall stay put ... any other era, I wouldn't have got to know you.

*sigh*

Oh, to be a member of 19th century British aristocracy...I have that same fantasy. However, if I were born in that era I suppose I would have been an illiterate chambermaid, so ... yay modern times! :P

lol. Did you ever watch that television show "Manor House" where they took a bunch of modern day people and made them live like the family and staff of an Edwardian manor? It was hilarious, especially the poor kid who got stuck being the hall boy. One of the lady's maids was whining about how hard her job was and he shot back with: "Hey, I have to sleep in the hall! My job is to empty the footman's chamber pot. Why are you complaining?" Made me realize how unromantic certain aspects of that era really were. ;)

Oh, and I'd like to play along with your meme if you don't mind. :)

Do you, or your husband have any siblings?

I have one sister. She's not quite two years older than me and she lives in Montana, near the Canadian line. I don't get to see her much because of that. My hubby has two sisters, one biological and one who is actually a cousin that was adopted by his family when her mother passed away. Both of them are five years younger than him. He also has a brother who is two years older, but his brother has severe Down Syndrome, so he has the mentality of a three-to-four year old child. Because of that, my hubby took on the eldest child role in the family; he's very sweet and protective of all his siblings. :)

What a great question and love your answer!

The past is fascinating and I love to read history and historical fiction. [Maybe just a short visit.]

1. I think we friended each other after the cardiff concert in summer 07, when we realized that we stood next to each other after we both posted pics at the Nekkid_spike comm :D Then we met for real at the Celtic blues thing.

My smile, geez I must be so different when I'm on James vacations. No one would describe me like that here in Germans LOL Especially not bubbly. I always try to smile - although i hate my smile - when i meet or greet people. I hate it when people for example in the supermarket at the meat counter for example get ask "how can i help you?" and all they can do is say "100 gram liverwurst". Come on people, give the nice lady behind the counter a "hi" and a smile and don't forget a "please" :D

going to post later it in my lj later. Still at work *psst, don't tell*

The song is "Don't Worry Son".

I think most of us are a bit star struck meeting James the first time or maybe the second, third or so on.

5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you. (To which you must respond!)
Again - hard to think, as you are pretty open. But - if you were alive in the "Frontier Days" ... do you think you would have travelled, following your dreams?

Well, I think I might have been living in a rural area. My family comes from farming. I doubt I would have traveled very far from where I was born. I know my family was in TX after the Civil War. My mother's great grandfather was a member of the KKK. Before that the family was from Kentucky where they owned a large cotton and tobacco plantation. They sold it before the war so they were able to come to TX with enough money to start over again. I would have either worked the farm with my family or my husband.

I made the icon with *sigh* this morning. That's was my reaction when I saw the photo for the first time on his site at jamesmarsters.com.
