366 MEME - Day 50 - Torquay Roof-Tops!
Saturday, April 4th, 2009 06:02 pmNo real news - did some gardening for Mum and Dad, and visited their neighbours (you may remember that Eric has kidney cancer) during the morning.
This afternoon Mum and I went into Torquay to do some shopping - and they have reduced car-park prices to try to tempt people to come to the town ... even though a lot of the shops are empty! Still we went in, and this is the view from the car-park.
Yes, I helped the world economy - I bought some undies (that were in a sale!)

Date: 2009-04-04 10:41 pm (UTC)(Victorian placenames are very reminiscent of Britain. We have a Torquay, a Brighton, a Cowes... and so forth...

Date: 2009-04-05 07:41 pm (UTC)Torquay was a Victorian Holiday Centre ... so a popular memory to take on your travels, I suppose.
The town near-ish to me, Launceston, always freaks me out when I hear the Tasmanian pronounciation ...we call it "Lorn-stun."
