A Lovely Start To The Week

Monday morning - but the sun was shining!

We had a nice ride out today, with Toni riding Junior and leading Smudge.  The only problem with that is that Junior has a long relaxed stride, so DJ had to trot and jog his way down to the village and back.

Mind you, Toni was chatting about competeing ... and vaguely hinting she would like to drag me somewhere ... between my butterflies, and DJ's moans at hard work ... I don't know!  I think I have decided that whether or not I actually compete, I will do the training as it will be good for both DJ and myself ... TREK is a good all-round discipline.

Anyway, we were out for about an hour, so it was a warm boy that returned ... I gave him a bit of a groom to let him settle, before a small feed, then out to his field ... to roll, of course!

Sounds like you both had a great ride. Does riding like that give you as much of a workout?

Whenever you are on a slowly moving horse you can "slump and go with it", like cowboys do ... or like non-riders (!) ... or you can move and balance in time with the horse ... thereforwe your lower back gets a great workout ... With trotting, again you can let the horse bounce you around or you can raise your whole body to each stride ... so yes, although relaxed, I still got a work out!

Great that you had a nice ride. I had fun on Sunday. I'm aiming to go to my first show of the year (and since last June) at the end of April.

Good luck with that - will it be local-ish, or travel ... Toni has at least a 2 hour drive to get anywhere ... mind you, she prefers to take the trip slowly if she can.

I sent our sun your way because to be honest I was quite sick of it!
We have finally gotten some long awaited rain, a little to heavy but it's rain so I shouldn't complain.

Thank you - we had almost forgotten what the sun looked like! Hope you get enough rain over the next few days to let a final bit of grass grow before winter.
