Escorting The Ladies ...
Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 03:11 pmWell, it's a hard job but DJ coped fairly well with the stress!
I will admit, my heart sank when I saw him this morning - he was wet mud from top to tail ... and everything in between!
Still he is continuing to be a good boy and meet me at the gate and walk in nicely with me. For the next hour I attempted to make him look half decent - concentrating on making sure where his sadlle, lag straps and bridle rest were comfortable for him.
We were ready just before 10, and Toni got Junior and the 4 of us walked up the road to meet Ros and Rosie ... so as I said, 5 ladies he had with him!
It was dry (sort of!), but very misty. We always wear reflectors, but if it had been any worse then I would have been reluctant to go out. It's not worth the risk - especially when you ride a fog-coloured horse!
We went down to the Church, and then down the road and back up, before turning into Well Lane - and at long last a chance for a canter. It has been ages since DJ was able to do down hills and cantering - so a great big YAY - he was fine - and really enjoyed it!
Some of you reading this may have joined DJ's story in the last 6 months - well, if so, and for those who want a reminder, the route I am talking about is photographed Here The previos pages to that are other routes we use, btw.
Well we got back, damp, but tired, for the best of reasons ... and I was so happy.
DJ had something to eat, after being settled, and then back out - but to a different field. The electric fencer has broken where he was - and he is too great an escape artist to stay put - so he and Conrad have been moved for the time being. As I left the 2 were cantering round their new home.

Sounds like he's really progressing nicely in terms of health and the training you've been giving him. Now if only he can get past that oily patch in the road.
How has everything else been for you? The heating problems fixed I guess?

Date: 2008-11-26 05:46 pm (UTC)Yes, I should have updated - it took 10 days for the heating to be fixed - and 1 day for the bill to arrive!
