Rhodes pride themselves on the amount of sunny days they have in a year - and after leaving a wet, green England it was amazing to see that the most commone flower we saw was this -

They were everywhere - and all that the goats seemed to eat!

Behind the cut are other plants we saw - as there are a lot of natural springs the towns and holiday complexes were watered overnight, so quite a lot of other flowers around.

The entrance to our complex -

Close up of the plant near our poor.  These were everywhere.

The first two photos looked like weeds to me. The third photo of cacti is very much like the type we have here. The colorful blooms were so pretty. Looks like you had nice weather for your vacation.

Tha first pic is a weird plant - looks very cactus like with all the spikey bits.
The pink flowers are Bougainvillea, the red one is a Hibiscus, i've seen the last one in Singapore and the States but i'm not sure what it's called, and the white one is familiar too....very pretty, it looks like you've really got to grips with the new camera, i'm glad you had a good time, isn't it nice to get some sun :)

Yes you'll need a fast lens for indoor stuff - churches are notorious for being dark and shadowy so not easy to get decent pics in.
Up the ISO as much as possible and use an aperture of 2.8 (if you can, although that might not be on you lens) or failing that use a tripod.

Pretty and prickly. ;)
There's a red hibiscus outside Eloise's window.
Can't wait to see more pics!
