DJ - Rolling!

Well, I have often mentioned that DJ loves rolling - so here is the proof taken this morning.

As I said, when we got back from our ride he was hot so I sponged him down.  Well as he walked into his field, in the dried mud near the gateway, he got down and rolled ...

 















And a final shake, before heading off towards Conrad!

Sammy does the same thing when it's hot. He rolls around in the dirt and there are times when he comes up looking more tan than black!

Yes, I have commented a few times that he is a bay (brown) pony ... not a grey!

That´s exactly the same thing my cousins horse "Luzy" does all the time...sometimes horses can be true clowns!!

Oh yes they can ... just love seeing him do it - only thing I hate is knoing that I will have to brush him again tomorrow!!

That was pure bliss for DJ. My male dog, Max, does the same thing. He will be outside and waits till he comes in. He does it in the middle of our living roomon the carpet. Never saw him do it outside in the grass. My female, Athena, never does it. She's too lazy to put out the energy. She's a stretcher instead.

DJ just looks across at me and drops down! I swear he knows how much work he is making!

Jiffy loves rolling as well - but his favourites are mowed grass, so he ends up green or on snails!!!

So, maybe it is some influence I have had on them!

How cute! I had no idea they could do that and get back up on their feet so easily. They are magnficent wonders aren't they?

They are amazing - and do get up really quickly. It is one of DJ's favourite hobbies - other than eating and sleeping, of course!

No - I think he just knows it annoys me that he rolls, when damp, in mud! You can almost see his grin!

Our Jiffy likes doing it in fresh cut grass - so he comes in green!

I think it's because our horses were always stabled, and not kept out in a pasture (just one of the unfortunates of living in the city), that I rarely saw this kind of behaviour. It's a joy to see!

Yes, I am lucky to have learnt to ride in the country ... When I worked at the stables, Toni had a rule for them ... They had to behave while under saddle ... once in the field, they could be horses. They are so lucky - wish they knew it!
