St. Swithin's day

Sorry folks - but don't forget it is St Swithin's Day today ....

So, if it rains today we will have a wet summer ... but if it is dry - 40 days of sunshine ahead. As the poem goes :-

"St Swithin’s Day, if it does rain
Full forty days, it will remain
St Swithin’s Day, if it be fair
For forty days, t'will rain no more."

That's interesting. Never heard that before. My grandmother always said if it thunders on Easter Sunday, it would rain the next seven Sundays. Love hearing things like that from different parts of the world.

I had not heard that one about easter ... My Grandmother always reconned that the sun would shine on Easter Day ... and I think she is right - even if sometimes it is only for 5 mins.

I think it is sad that so many of these sayings and traditions are slowly getting lost

No rain here either - but very overcast ... but Mum in Torquay said they had good wether as well ... so lets hope it works!!
