This is just to thank you all for my Birthday wishes - it has really meant a lot how many of you sent best wishes my way.  The cakes in the greetings were great - Thank you.

I had a great time...I went to the camera shop,molested the Canon 5D and put it back - I thought I was very restrained...lol
I actually brought some dollars back so I have a few for the next visit :D

I should have asked you to check out the price of the Nikon d80 (18-135 zoom packet) as I think that's what I will end up buying.

Still, it is good the you both had a good time and returned with a few dollars in your purse ... dare I ask about the credit card though!!!!!!

The D80 is a good camera - my brother is thinking about buying one to replace the Pentax digital SLR that he has as his camera is a bit slow when photographing moving objects and the Nikon has a better spec overall than the Pentax.
I don't know if there would have been much difference in the price comparison for the camera, the 5D is about the same price as here, and when looking at some of the compact cameras they seemed to bee on par with our prices too.
The only thing that is a good saving is lenses, I bought both of mine online from there and saved almost a £100 on both and escaped having to pay duty on them (although since then the customs have wised up and poor Lynnie got stung for import duty on both of her lenses so didn't finish up saving anything)

My credit card only got hit for paying for two t-shirts and two nights hotel accommodation, so not too bad :D

Yes what I had read about the D80 seemed +ve ... and I acn use my existing lenses as well if I wanted ... also good news.
Had looked at some of the price comparison and thought they were similar ... but obviosly not worth too much worry if customs are catching up with the lenses as well.

Wow - you were very restrained with the card ... I know you have to pay when you get home but I can tend to be a bit "naughty" when I am on holiday!!
