As most of you read a couple of weeks ago I am (at long last) beginning to come to terms with things that happened in my life while I was at school.

Well I read The Bible every morning, and am at present reading The Old Testament - and today was reading from the book of Lamentations.  It is quite a sad book, as the name shows, and was written by Jeremiah.  His country had been destroyed and most of his companions killed or captured -

However in the midst of this sad time he wrote some lovely words :-

The unfailing love of the Lord never ends!  By his mercies we have been kept from complete destruction.
Great is His faithfulness;  His mercies begin afresh each day.
I say to myself, "The Lord is my inheritance; therefore I will hope in Him"
The Lord is wonderfully good to those who wait for Him and seek Him.
So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from The Lord.

You heard me!  You listened to my pleading; you heard my weeping!
Yes, you came at my despairing cry and told me "Do not fear"

Lamentations 3 vv 22 - 26, 56 - 57 (N.L.T.)

Very positive thoughts.

I also love verse 26 as I am keeping it as a promise.  Every day I pray for 2 very special people - that they will really be happy ... and learn how much God loves them.  To me this is a promise that I will see those prayers for those people answered.

Lamentations, although sad, is one of my favorite books to read. :)

You're an amazing and special woman, Deb - keep that positive energy flowing...I feel it all the way over here! :)

Beautiful passage. Thanks for sharing that. Sometimes it is easy to be blinded by the things going on around us and forget.

I was in Chennai, southern India several years ago, shortly after torrential rains had flooded large areas of the city. I attended an English/Indian church service the next day and was very touched. There were no questions of "why?", there was only thanksgiving and confidence in the Lord.

When they sang, the song Still (from Hillsong), they sang it with such faith, it brought tears to my eyes. These people had not only just gone through flooding but they had also been affected by the tsunami earlier.

Still

Hide me now
Under your wings
Cover me
within your mighty hand

When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with you above the storm
Father you are king over the flood
I will be still and know you are God

Find rest my soul
In Christ alone
Know his power
In quietness and trust

That's a lovely passage. I remember doing a study in Lamentations a few years ago and I was amazed at how much I enjoyed it.
