Wednesday - Wet & Windy

DJ was so glad to see me when I arrived this morning ... there is nothing like a carrot to warm up a wet pony!  It was pouring - and a cold wind was blowing ... hard to believe we are in May tomorrow.

He wasn't so happy to be brushed, although stood and let me comb both his tail and his main right the way through.

I tacked him up and headed out to meet Ros - and we went on the same route as last week through the woods.  Although it was quite slippery under-foot, DJ is great as he is a Connemara pony who are pretty sure-footed.  Going through the woods meant slightly less rain and certainly shelter from the wind.  The bluebells were still looking stunning, so that was an added bonus.

By the time we were heading back it was not raining quite as much - but DJ was not hot, so I could get him fed and back to his field, before I had time to realise how wet I actually was!!

April "showers" ... I thought they were meant to come and go - these came and forgot to go!

Wet and windy. Well we had the windy part here today. And cold. The wet comes tomorrow.

Aww DJ seems to be behaving very well these days.

Yes - wet is not to bad .... but the cold wind ... Thats annoying!

You're much braver than I. I actually had a horse go down under me in bad terrain. I was hurt, but recovered, and luckily the horse was ok, but a little voice inside my head now screams, You're NOT going out under those conditions!

Yes - I saw Secret go down in ice and I won't now ride in ice for that reason.

DJ has upended us both strolling along a path on a dry sunny day ... so!!!!!! However if I had thought about how steep a couple of those tracks were before we had got there I may have been a bit more wary. The other weather I don't do is fog ... although Ros goes out every day - whatever the weather.

Yes! Steep, rocky trails are another thing I try to avoid too. Where I lived at the time, fog was never an issue. We rarely had any.
