Blood Count Update

Further to my post yesterday Poor Blood Count  I have seen my doctor today.

He said that as well as low level haemoglobin my blood cells were slightly small - Overall not too bad; but he has requested a full blood count, liver and kidney tests as well as tests for both Coeliac disease and Thyroid problems.

He said that overall nothing was worrying, but that the tests would give some idea which way to progress, as to whether it is still the body recovering from the shock of my injury - or if I need other treatment.

Blood tests tomorrow - with a 10 day wait for results!!  

Although he does want me to start iron as soon as they have the blood - that way I should feel less tired ... well, I didn't tell him that I want to be feeling on top form at the beginning of next month!!

I'm glad they were able to identify potential problems early so that you can do something about it before it really becomes a health issue.

Yes, this is why my doctor is doing the extra tests on kiney and liver - to make sure I am not harbouring anything. He is a good doctor - which makes things easier

Yes, that was my sudden panic when I realised how tired I had got over the last couple of weeks - and the trip to see James ... can't be tired when I see him - I must remember it all!!

Yes, that certainly took a lot out of me- my doctor says he isn't too concerned (and I believe him) - so I think he is just being cautious ... better safe than sorry

Yes, my GP is good - so it will be great to get everything checked while they are going to be getting blood anyway.

I'm still sure it's just that your body hasn't recovered from the accident and that the tests will show nothing major wrong. However (having absolutely zero medical knowledge) I might be wrong and if so it will be a good thing to have caught any problem early.

Good luck with the iron though - hope it does the trick, as you need to be full of energy by 2 May.

Yes - I am OK about it all - I should think it is just me and my hand fighting each other!! Great to get the full check though - my GP said I had never had one done, so would be a great basis for him from now on.

Yes - need to be able to Squeeee with energy ... if the iron kicks in, wear ear plugs!!

you have a good doctor, not downplaying this and just making sure. We'll be waiting to hear about it, and again, I'm sure it'll be fine.

Yes, I don't often need to see him, but when I do he really is quite thorough. He pointed out that I hadn't actually had a blood test ever - so it would be a good basis.

Gah! If blood tests were pulled that way, I'd end up not needing the results. As soon as Spike's mouth touched my skin, I would die of a heart attack!

Oh yes - Spike can have as much as he wants!! Providing he leaves a syringe full for the nurse tomorrow!!

I hope the results of the tests come out all right. Maybe the iron will make a difference. Nothing could be worse than constant exhaustion, especially for a horsey person like you.

We make a good pair, don't we? The hand has reached a stationary point at present and I am going to let it settle for a few days before pushing for more from the final joint. The nerves are slowly healuing so that is good. how is the foot - Have you got out riding yet?

DJ is happy as I haven't got to see him today with doctors - a day off to relax!! I am slightly more worried about being well for the trip to see James ... just don't tell DJ that news!!

Thanks - yes it is 2 weekends away ... so put like that not so bad ... LOL. I start the iron tomorrow, as my doctor arranged the blood test tomorrow - he is a good GP and does get things moving - less waiting, less time to stress.

Thanks - yes, time goes by when you are enjoying yourself, not so quick when you are waiting - still at present I am couning days till seeing James, so this is only part of that count!!

Thought you were from NY - but your comment on Cardiff made me wonder - some of my f-list travel to see James where-ever he is ... oh to have to bank balance!

Oh yes - report will follow after the concert.

I find it a bit hard to be objective - usually too much squeee ... but last Nov I managed to have a moan about the other performers before getting on with the squeeee ... lol
