Grr ... argh!!!!

After all my excitement yesterday I thought I would actually do some clarinet practice in a spare few minutes ...

Guess what - 

The finger is fine, its the clarinet that has died.

As my hand was aching last night I must have twisted the upper barrel badly and have managed to bend a couple of keys - so this afternoon I am off to hospital again - But this time clarinet hospital!!

Its now this afternoon!!

I have just got in and things seem OK - Jessica said that it looked like an old damage that had just twisted that little bit extra as the corks were drier with lack of use.

So - she "hit it with a hammer" and now everything seems OK - and she gave a good report to the general health of both of my clarinets - So that was even better news!!

I'm sorry your clarinet is ailing, but better it than you. (I was secretly afraid for you--that you had nerve damage).

Thank you - it is amazing how little damage I will end up with - some scarring, but even that is faint and a small patch that is numb just by the base of the nail - It is great! But thanks for the worry - you are the only one who has mentioned major complications ... sometimes it is harder to know what can happen!!

I was afraid to mention it before. It could have been so much worse. Bad, bad horsie!

I think if I saw my finger bent the wrong way, I would vomit, faint, go into shock, then die. I think you're very brave, and you underplayed it so coolly.

I think that the first few minutes there was a wish to scream - and all I can remember doing is praying that I would stay conscious (as I was holding the hand up in the air) until Toni arrived.

Afetr that you end up "in the system" - I am normally hopeless, but at that time you realise that there is nothing can be done ... and Heh, I still had my finger - Toni must have told me that about 50 times!!

Yes everyday I see a bit more improvemment - still some way to go with mobility and soreness - but all the time it is better - and even if it never gets better than it is now - it's there ... what more can I ask

Well - it is the best option if one of them had to "keel over"!!

Still - just seems annoying to start getting back to normal (am I ever??) and then this - oh well, the weather is great for a drive!

Don't have time to practice now, as I hear the neighbours about - and try not to annoy them too much with too amny wrong notes!!

Oh dear, this line just gave me the giggles! Glad to hear that the finger is doing well and is a) not dead, nor b) been repaired with a hammer. ;)

Hadn't thought about that treatment for the hand ... thankfully! As the end is only 90% straight maybe thats what the physio will suggest when I go tomorrow - still, it worked on the clarinet!
