R.I.P. Secret
Wednesday, February 13th, 2008 07:25 pmToni has just phoned me to say that her much loved "baby" has had to be put to sleep.
Secret was in his late 20's and the most amazing horse - when competing she won every competition she entered on him ... even coming 5th (one year) in the Open National Cross-Country Championships.
He was a cream Connemara X Thoroughbred ... with Royal blue eyes ... and very much a Gentleman ... who loved (and was loved) by his Mum very much.
I saw him today - he was happy, cantering round his field in the sunshine - and if asked to describe him I would have said "Full of Life". Sadly he fell at lunchtime and broke a leg, so the vet had to be called - at least his last few days had been in the sun and his end was quick.
He was never the same after his stable companion Squiffy died 8 years ago - so now I know they are both together again
R.I.P. Moonlight Dreamer ... You will be sadly missed.

Date: 2008-02-14 08:09 am (UTC)To make matters worse, the leg he broke was the same one the Squiff had - but maybe that was meant to be.
Our friends are sadly missed, aren't they?

It's wonderful that your last visual image will be of him full of life and running around his field.
