Monday Mornings Are Great ....
Monday, February 11th, 2008 12:01 pmWell mine was this week!!
First there was the postman arriving with (a bill) and my ticket for Union Chapel with James, in May
Then - I have annoyed my neighbours for 10 minutes!
Translation reads - I played my saxophone for 10 minutes. Not the clarinet - the keys are harder to play correctly - and my finger is killing me as I type - but I am still over-the-moon
Yah ... and Yah again!!

Date: 2008-02-11 12:55 pm (UTC)Did you get the mail from them, too, letting you know about a delay in delivery?
Because it said something about "let us know if you haven't received your ticket until a week before the event". And I'm going to be in London already a week before the gig.
God, I'm paranoid. *shifty eyes*
And don't you love it when the mailman brings you James? Last year when I got my CM tickets, I was like.. huh? why do I have to sign for the mail? I never sign for mail. See how my weird fan-brain works on occasion ;)

Date: 2008-02-11 08:25 pm (UTC)I believe the photo tickets won't be shipped out until mid-March. I don't remember when they sent them out last year. Ah... just checked the site. They said something about 2 weeks prior to the event. I hope I'll get mine in time.

That's definitely something to look forward to.
I played my saxophone for 10 minutes
I guess this is your first time trying that since the injury?

Date: 2008-02-11 07:57 pm (UTC)Yes - first playing of either instrument - and from my fingers point of view the sax was the easier option

Date: 2008-02-11 01:05 pm (UTC)Pleased to see the finger is improving and you're getting to make music again.

Date: 2008-02-11 07:58 pm (UTC)Yes - I never thought I would miss practicing - but the problems I had with my lungs last summer and now this ... I even want to play scales!!

Date: 2008-02-11 04:33 pm (UTC)I had heard before that clarinet and saxophone have similar fingerings and that makes it possible for musicians to "double" on those instruments?
no subject
Date: 2008-02-11 08:02 pm (UTC)Yes - saxophone is similar to clarinet in fingering ... but a lot easier (if that makes sense to a non-player of them both!!). It is also easier to use the keys - as they are "closed" keys, so if my finger wasn't 100% square I would still be able to play. If you play clarinet - you can play saxophone - but not necessarily the opposite way round.

Date: 2008-02-11 06:17 pm (UTC)Oh, have you been reading Buffy Season 8 or Angel After the Fall? The second comic for Angel is Spike-centric, gorgeous cover. I NEVER got into comics (though I love my manga), but when I heard Joss was writing, and they were the official continuations of both shows, I was hooked.

Date: 2008-02-12 08:11 am (UTC)Yes - I had always wanted a sax and a few years ago my Aunt gave me some money ... ratehr than just put it towards the bills I thought I would treat myself!
The fingering is easier - the type of playing easier, the breath control easier ... and yet ... I still prefer the clarinet to play.
2 years ago we played Bizet's L'Arisienne suite which meant I was swapping from one to the other throughout the piece, which was a great challenge.

Date: 2008-02-12 05:04 pm (UTC)Yes - the "This is not a ticket" made me first think it was a circular ... glad I didn't just tear it up!! See you at UC

I may need to visit him for a while though. Ask
