Hospital Appointment ... Bring Your Own Bandages!

No -I am not kidding you!

As I saw the doctor on Thursday, I was due to have the dressings changed on Sunday and on Tuesday.  My parents GP practice booked me in for the appt on the Tue and then booked me in to the District Hospital (one of the 4 main ones in this county) ... so that meant that I didn't just have to go to A&E and sit and wait.

Anyway - when the clinic phoned me back with the appointment they told me that I had to go down that afternoon - so that I could collect the bandages 

AS THE HOSPITAL WOULDN'T HAVE ANY ...

Well now I have heard everything ...

So do remember, as well as wearing clean undies in case you have an accident - remember to carry a band-aid with you as well!! 

Sunday clinics ... I know ... but it was at a main hospital!

Sadly, as some of you will already have heard, when they took off the dressing on Sunday they had to find a doctor as I have an infection in the wound.  

I was assured that it was coming from the inside and not that I had done any damage in my care - but still ... strong anti-biotics and a longer time of healing ahead of me

Yes - when my p[arents GP told me - I thouught they were winding me up - but, no, the nurse that re-dressed the hand even told me that I didn't have the right stuff with me!!

Can't believe it - can you! I couldn't when the clinic told me!

Poor you! I hope the hand improves - don't forget to eat lots of pro-biotic yogurt to correct the lack of friendly bacteria those anti-biotics are going to kill off (yakult is a good source).

Thanks - it is something I tend to forget - but must do as this is the 2nd lot in less than a month.

They seem to think that as the appointment is on a Sunday then it confuses their paperwork to have to claim for ruitine treatments - therefore the bandages must come from another source!! ... Keeps more "pen-[ushers" in a job, I suppose!!

Why does it not surprise me to hear that ?? Our hospitals are getting to be a joke - That's a nuisance to have an infection in it, it'll make the healing time so much longer :(

I know - part of me wanted to be suprised - but part of me somehow expected it!!

The anti-biotics are kicking in - so that is the main thing, thanks

Thanks - glad we live in the modern Western world ... and the 21st century, otherwise goodness knows what treatment I would receive!!

You may say that - all I got was the prescription - I had to go to the chemists to get the tablets!!

Thanks - The infection is beginning to clear - it was the actual hospital that had no bandages - Sunday clinics - some excuse about paper work!!

Yes - I couldn't believe it either! Still, things looked better yesterday - so will have to wait to see what the doctor says tomorrow -
