debris4spike: (DJ - plaited!)

That was DJ's conclusion when we got back this morning!

When I had gone to get him in this morning he certainly wasn't looking as clean as in the photos I shared with you on Monday!  The drizzle wasn't washing the mud off - just making him too damp to groom properly!!

Anyway - got the saddle are and his face (wears his bridle rubs) dry and clean(ish) so the rest is only "cosmetic" - Sorry DJ, but you were the one who had rolled in the mud, you are the one who has to live with the dirty image!

Ros and Cherry arrived at their normal time, just as it was drying up and we headed towards the forestry - when we got there it looks as if it will be our last full ride for some time that way as they are re-planting various areas and closing that part off to horse-riding ... Mad as we only ever went along the track and not the fields.

Anyway - we had a good ride - DJ had a canter even though I didn't ask him for one!  The surface of the verge at that point was too good an opportunity to miss!

We had a great time - but when we got back you can spot the benefits of clipping a horse - DJ was wet!  He had sweated so much as he is growing a lovely full coat - but with a busy ride and a warm day - he was hot!

So I had a long wait before I could feed him - and more importantly before he could go back to his field.  As Toni was out it meant she got her stable and yard brushed down while I waited - so she will be happy that DJ got hot.

Eventually with yet more towelling he was dry enough to go back out ... after a feed of course!
