You Know The Phrase ...
Monday, September 3rd, 2007 09:28 pm"There's good news and there's bad news"
Well -
The good news is that I was able to stay to an hour of orchestral rehearsal tonight - and the pain in my lungs was only just starting. (I won't tell you how many mistakes there were though!!)
But -
The bad news is - I have less than a month to get concert fit. Again there is good and bad news there.
The good news is that as it is a classical concert the first clarinet parts are not 100% of the time.
However when I am playing they are important! And on the day of the concert we have a full rehearsal all afternoon - which I usually find tyring when I am fit!
Still, overall I am happier than I was about a month ago when I thought I would be pulling out.
For those who are interested the programme is:-
Beethoven's Egmont Overture.
A Suite of modern music written by a local person.
Schubert's Piano Concerto
A Mozart Symphony.

Date: 2007-09-04 09:56 pm (UTC)That sounds like a lovely program. I'm very fond of classical music and when I was little I often dreamed of playing in an orchestra. Sadly, although my parents spent a fortune giving me piano lessons, I never learned to play really well.

Date: 2007-09-05 01:09 pm (UTC)I tried the piano a bit - but can't cope with trying to read more than one note at a time. since Easter I have basically only played the sax (which is the easier of the 2), but am back with both again - and the clarinet is always going to be my instrument of choice ... So ... mayeb you should find another instrument and have a go!!
