Well, we are 2 months down in 2025.  March already ... and, Happy St David's Day ...

"Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus"

And for anyone who wants to know more about St David, here is a link for you.

The first school I went to was in North Wales, and I went there for a term and a half, until we moved back to Essex.  My memories are few, but vivid.  I can describe the classroom.  I was 5, but put on the 4 - 5 year old table, as I only spoke English.  The class had 4 - 7 year olds, and by the time we were 10 we would have been expected to have all our lessons in Welsh.  Sadly, when I got back to Essex I had to "forget" my Welsh as I was having to do all the nursery rhymes, prayers etc back in English.  I do remember I enjoyed those days in Flint Mountain Primary School

So I have posted the photos, gone and picked up a few things at the shops, and it will soon be lunchtime.  After lunch I am definately going to go for a walk, as it's another sunny day.

But for now -

1. What’s your favourite pastime?

Sightseeing!
I love reading fan-fic, making icons, etc
I love jigsaw puzzles... some handcraft.

2. In 1959, the Mars confectionary bar was advertised with the slogan, “A Mars a day helps you work, rest and play”. Do you remember any old advertising slogans/jingles? Do you think they would be used today?
The other real classic of that era is memorable "For mash get Smash" ... a freeze-dried mashed potato, that was advertised by metal spacemen!

Right - enjoy your weekend.

See you Monday x

Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus

Hope that you are all having a good day

So far mine is going OK ... I have done some shopping, and had some treatment on my ongoing leg injury. Overall it is doing better ... and will probably do even better if I actually did the exercises on a more regular basis!

I aim to have a fairly lazy afternoon as I am working this evening - so will catch up with you all tomorrow (promise).  I am feeling a lot better (thanks), but don't want to push myself.

Before I finish here, thought I would share some icons that I have made for competitions over on DW. As ever, they are snaggable, and the credits are available over at my icon journal - [livejournal.com profile] d4s_icons

These first 2 sets are for Itsabattlefield

Round 165 - Favouriet play

One of my favourite plays (despite having to actually study it at school!), is The Importance of Being Ernest by Oscar Wikde ... and my favourite version of the play is the 1952 version -

Round 166 - Favourite Villain

Well anyone who has seen the film Batman Forever must pick The Riddler as a great villain. The other images are of Servalan, and is the villain in the 1980's BBC series Blakes 7 (the first show I got involved in fandom)

So, lets just answer todays question then be lazy -

1 – World Compliment day: Do you think there is still a place in the modern world for unsolicited compliments?
Where I work we get loads of complaints ... so it is nice when people actual say thanks ... and that we are doing a good job.

Right - lets get on x

Well it's another wet day - and dark & cold, as well ... So much for arriving in the month of March!

So, “Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus”, or Happy St David's Day for those who don't speak Welsh (which includes me!). Although my first school was actually in North Wales, and I did learn some of the language for the 2 terms I was there ... however as I was back in England before my 6th birthday, so don't really remember much of it (although I can say one nursery rhyme "Ring a Ring of Roses" very poorly).

So, I hope that you are all fighting the dragons ... and doing OK.

As I said yesterday, I was going to make a small set of icons ... and here they are, made for Challenge Fifty One: Book to Screen Adaptations at [livejournal.com profile] perioddrama_ic ....

I chose Anne of Green Gables & Little Women as they were both favourites of Mum's and I just made icons for Dad's favourite film ... so, it only seemed fair.

PS - the Anne series is a favourite of mine, as well ... and one I completely re-read from time to time.

So, as I was haaing fun with these, I didn't get my ironing done, so that's on my list of "to-do" things this afternoon.  But, before I go -

1. If you built a themed hotel, what would the theme be, and what would the rooms look like?
I think each room would be decorated as if you were on a highish level of a building in assorted capital cities around the world ... for the trvellor without a passport.

Right, I must get on

Don't forget that today is Pancake Day ... so that's what I am going to have for tea

Seeing as my brother Nick is actually Welsh I thought I would wish you all a Happy St David's Day.  The first school I went to was in Wales, and Nick was born in the city of St Asaph.

Yes, it's St David's Day tomorrow ... yet the road were gritted for more ice as I drove back from Mum and Dad's tonight.

However - the first mini daffs were just about aout this lunchtime -

I know I am a bit late to wish you all a Happy st. David's Day, but I think I am correct in thinking that no one on my f-list is actually in the Principality ... so that isn't to bad then!!

This flower was in Mum and Dad's garden today - and as there were no leeks aropund, then I used the 2nd national emblem to photograph!!
