debris4spike: (Default)
When I last updated, over a week ago, I had a couple of days of work booked, and then was due back here.

Work went well - both were nice shifts, and went smoothly, which was good.

On the Tuesday morning I had a 4 hour shift booked, and realised about 1/2 way through I was beginning to clock-watch ... to see how long it would be until I could get home!

Once home I slept, and then didn't, and then did ... burning a temperature as I went.

I got to see my doctor the following day as I couldn't actually stop coughing at all, despite hourly use of my inhaler.

My doctor said I had either flu, or covid, but was not worth testing which as they are similar.  I totally agreed with her in this.  She gave me steroids for 5 days to try to settle my lungs down ... and, yes, it worked.  I had a few off & on days, then Sunday night slept more than 12 hours without waking.

I am feeling a lot better, but still have no energy.

I have just walked to the shops 5 minutes away, and was totally tired by the time I got home.

So, thankfully I am not going to be wiped out like I was 4 years ago ... but am not quite 100% yet.

So, am going to catch up with the daily questions and then log off again ... hopefully in another couple of days I shall be up to catching up with you all.  But until then -

21. Have you ever traced your ancestors? How far back can you go?
I haven't, although I know a lot about my grandparents, and some about my great-grandparents.
However Tim did the work some years ago ... and Mum's mother goes back to Jasper Tudor (Henry VIII's uncle)

22. It’s Hobbit Day - created alongside Tolkien Week by the American Tolkien Society in 1978. Are you a fan of the Hobbits?
I read Lord of the Rings back when I was at college in the early 80's ... but have never read The Hobbit (yet)

23. In 1940 Piet Mondrian, the Dutch painter, left Europe to live in New York for the rest of his life. Are you familiar with Mondrian’s work?

Never heard of him - so I Googled. Much of his stuff looks like geometric patterns, although I did like "The Red Tree"

24. Have you ever owned a small, caged pet (hamster, gerbil, guinea pig, rabbit)?
No

25. The first Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise opened in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1952. Are you a fan of fried chicken?
I tend to eat it when I am driving, as it is quick and filling to get the brain to focus.

26. In September 1955 the very first TV advertisement was broadcast on UK TV. Do TV ad breaks annoy you?
Some of them are really annoying ... although there are one or two that do make me smile.

27. In 1946 Hergé published the first Adventures of TinTin. Do you remember the cartoon (comic books or TV series)?
Tim was a fan, so, yes I do.

28. International Rabbit Day - have you ever seen wild rabbits?
When I lived in Bude, yes.

29. Do you like (or have you ever had) Chai tea?
Never had it

30. The United Nations celebrates International Translation Day to celebrate professional language translators. Have you ever used Google Translate?
Yes - in fact I had to a couple of weeks ago when someone came to enquire about their upcoming appointment, and could only speak Polish.

1. In 1884, forty-one delegates from 25 nations met in Washington DC for the International Meridian Conference and chose the Greenwich Meridian in the UK as the Prime Meridian of the World (Longitude 0 degrees). Which degree longitude do you live on?
I live on The Meridian

2. What’s your favourite snack?
Roast Chicken crisps
Some fruit
.... really depends on what mood I am in, and what i have in the cupboards!

Right, see you in a couple of days x
