44 - How important do you think education is?
I have a degree as I trained to be an osteopath, my dad and one of my brothers did PhD's. However my mum left school early.
I do think a lot of people get a degree but then don't know what to do with it. So that seems a waste of 3-4 years to me.
I think education is something we can all do day by day as the years go along. However I do wish that people could be educated in manners from an early age!

... and James!
46 - What is your favorite movie? What is it about?
Actually I don't have a #1 favourite. It will change from day to day to day. Some of my super favourites are :-
The Sound of Music
Fiddler on the Roof
You've Got Mail
I am sure you know all these films, so not worth explaining them.

40 - What were your highs and lows of the past year?
Obviously loosing Dad was the low point ... as was helping him to cope with loosing Mum and also his independence. Although I do have some good memories of some of those days.
So spending time with Dad was special ... as was my trip to London. I plan to go back to London in November again, and know I will see Dad again in Eternity.

I really can't think of anythung, except for saying Goodbye to both Mum & Dad ... but that's just selfish, as they are in a much "better place". I need to just be positive about me!
The only other thing I could think of is James doing another of his special "days" that I have been to in the past.
So, as I said a few answers ago, I am pretty content with everything.

I am trying to be a good girl on my days I work a 9-5 and not switch on my computer, but rest and slob out in front of the TV, with an early night. There is still loads and loads to sort out, so I don't want to push myself like I had to last year. Hopefully I shall slowly be able to increase my "working" time, but at present I am trying to be sensible (shock, I know!!)
Yesterday I went to the dentist for my 4th appointment - which in theory should have been the crown placement. However on appt 2 (after the nerve removal) I was sore while she was drilling, and then the area hurt for the week, so last week it was no treatment but penicillin, however no change. So yesterday she took all the filling out and re-x-rayed, and drilled, cleaned, and put an antibiotic liner in, before re-sealing the root area. She was quite upset because if this doesn't work I lose the tooth. As it's a tooth #2 she is upset. I don't care about my own appearance (in fact I never ever use a mirror), but she is upset. So I had to comfort the dentist as I know she has done everything she can. The area is very sore, but whether that's the antibiotics working or not, I wont know till Friday ... watch this space.
Saw dad only briefly yesterday as he was in the activities room helping with a wall hanging ... well, he was sitting and laughing as the activities co-ordinator teased him into saying he was in charge of the 6 ladies there. Great to see him happy.
Sorry, I forgot the camera yesterday, but as I was dentist, then an hour at Mum & Dad's doing more clearing out nothing to photograph. So I thought I would share the pictures I took on my phone last week. The camera is not great (to me a phone is just to keep in contact!), but dragonflylady77 challenged me on Instagram to post a nature picture a day for a week -( Read more... )
And finally, as it's a weekend, and we haven't got thesun the rest of England has, here is some James to cheer us all up -
I was born in 1961, so as a kid the radio was on - The Beatles, The Seekers, The Monkees, The Beach Boys .... and I still do like their stuff. Weirdly, having no friends at school (due to bullying) I was isolated, so much of the 70's music passed me by then, but I do like it now ... The Rolling Stones being my favourite of the bunch. From then on nothing!
I also love music of the 20's, singers like Frank Sinatra; and classical music, especially Beethoven.
As my longer term f-list will know, there is only one singer I have heard live, and one band gig I have ever been to.
James Marsters, and Ghost of the Robot (although James was not there as he was filming). I will admit that I loved the atmosphere of GotR, but if I had to pick just one event, it would be James by himself (not that I don't like Charlie, Sullivan, etc), but I like how he relates to his audience while performing.
So, yes please - more James Marsters!!!
For me (and others) it will also bring back great memories of a very wet trip to Cardiff!
Here are the teasers -
( The full set is here )
So, these are from Andromeda 2.09 Into the Labyrinth. I enjoy the early series, but this episode truly has to be the best (I wonder why?!!!)
Here are my 3 teasers -
( The full set is here )
Firstly, how are you all .... Hope all is going well for you.
I am back on antibiotics, as the bugs never went, and started to get bad again. However the good news is that on Tuesday (photos to follow), Christine and I went out for the day ... and I drove (almost 4 hours, and walked for about 5) ... and I was OK. The cranial treatment that I have been having has really helped. Yes I still feel tired and achy, but that was the first drive I have done in a couple of years .... YAY
Mum & Dad are still about the same, although Mum is a bit more clingy on some days, and Dad tends to have real prob;ems finding his words some days.
I had been thinking of going to go to London for a day in November to get a photo with James, but yet again it's not to be, as even if he doesn't cancel with filming, the venue has moved to Brighton. That makes the day trip totally impossible. London would have been a long day, but I could have done it. Oh well, I said a couple of years ago that I doubted I would get to see James .... look like I am being proved correct.
Well I think I have caught up with all the past comments ... still have to check up the historamedy365 comments .... I have a few more finished on my 100 icon work -
Blakes 7 Icons
Last night I had a truly mega dream.
I was with a group of friends, although none of them were people I knew. 😀
Anyway one of them, my closest friend, was living with James, and one of the others was living with Tom Hanks.
Anyway to complicate the story, the two actors were in a film. The story was set during the filming time. In off camera times the story was fun (very much so) .... but there again the actual film plot was unusual ....
The two of them were Greek beach-bums who, somehow, ended up in New York playing baseball, and became national stars .... who ended up marrying each other.
I really want to see this 😂
Another very hard choice, as I have loads of favourites, and a lot depends on what mood I am in. I love 40/50's films ... musicals especially. And I have favourite actors like Cary Grant, Doris Day, Danny Kaye, etc. I do also love Will Hay films and The Marx Brothers films ... yes, I'm a bit mad!
Some of my favourite films are -
Guys and Dolls
Arsenic and Old Lace.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
Fiddler on the Roof.
Carry on ... Up The Khybur/Screaming/Cleo
Passport to Pimlico
And, of course, one actor I must mention is James Marsters. I love all his work, but am especially fond of Moonshot, as I remember standing in our back garden watching Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the moon! (I do also love Appollo 13, which never fails to grip me with the story)
I suppose my favourite sone changes with what mood I am in. However, as you can guess my ring-tone on my phone is set ... And has been for years (despite changing phones) -
London City, by James Marsters
I am a great fan of the 60's, loving The Beatles, The Seekers and The Beach Boys, especially. It's good to hear a slightly different song style, so love this, by The Beach Boys -
Dad and I have been getting on with the gardening ... and have now just about cleared this area. We are going to wait a few weeks and see what happens to the remaining ivy, etc. The plan is to lay stones where the grass/earth is so that it is easier to maintain from now on.
( Dad & I busy at work )
Of course, it helped as we had our supervisor around to make sure we behaved ourselves ....( Jiffy in his kingdom )
We did manage to see the sun turn moon-shaped ... but then the clouds came and we never saw it recover! It was very cold, especially as it was only 9.30am, the day hadn't actually warmed up before it got cold again -
( A partial eclipse )
The weekend was memorable - Mum and Dad's 63rd wedding anniversary. Not that they did anything, but great to see that they both remembered the date, and talked of memories of that day.
Then 2 days later it was Tim & Claire's silver wedding. They had a day together, and sent me this photo -
One of the reasons I have been busy is because it is the family celebration on Saturday, which I am organising, with Brenda's help.
Well other than that I can honestly say that I am mostly in a good place. The caring, etc, although hard work is now an organised routine. So, when things go wrong, at least I have my basic week planned to know what's happening.
Sadly I know that James is coming to Newcastle and I can't get to see him. I did say a couple of years ago I didn't think I would get to see him again, and it seems I am being proved correct. Still, there is good news in that he has been cast in the pilot of The Devil you know, so hopefully I will get to see him in that.
He is also recording "Ghost Story" by Jim Butcher, so that is something to look forward to ... I had tried to listen to the other version, but I just couldn't get into the characters without hearing James' version of the characters.
Well I must get on - although I am in Exeter, I have brought washing from Dad, and now need to iron to take it back tomorrow.
Hope all is well with you all.
I have just re-read Changes, Ghost Story and Cold Days .... and now am listening to Skin Game, having read it when it was first published.
It is a great story (and, yes, the narrator helped me to get into the story), but I enjoy how the characters have gradually developed, and how the stories are individual, but building to one overall epic.
So what do I want to find out about ..... ( under cut in case you aren't as up to date as me )
First the weekness and aching has been slowly increasing, so that in itself is poor. I did have quite a lot I wanted to do for Mum & Dad in the garden, while the weather holds ... so wasn't looking forward to that! However Tim & Claire popped in over lunch and stayed a few hours, so as well as being great to see them, it meant I had a bit of a rest. That made it easier to cope with the day, even though I didn't get much of the things done that needed to be done.
Then, of course the main sadness is that James was in England and I wasn't going to be seeing him. He was at a convention and I really can't cope with group things like that, even for James. So I had sadly opted not to go. As it turns out, with less work I couldn't have afforded it (although if it had been one of James' days I would have begged, borrowed or stolen!) I am also glad that I didn't have to do the travelling .... so that was easier for my body.
As I hadn't aimed to go to see James, I had said I would play at Bude's orchestra concert .... however I had to pull out of playing as the playing, as well as the travelling, would have been far too much.
So, all in all, a tough time.
Anyway this set of icons was made for Round 61 of character20n20 .... I am just hoping I got the colours right in the Cat Set, as we were given specific colours to work with ... hard for people like me to cope.
Anyway, here are the three teasers -
( The full set is here - )
I hope that you are having a wonderful day - spending time with those you love. I pray that the coming year will be truly wonderful for you.
The great thing for James is that he will be able to celebrate this birthday by knowing that this weekend more people will be able to see him on TV.
He is a great actor - and it is great that he has another TV role, so more people can appreciate that talent. He is also great at making those he is speaking to feel really special. In this combination I (along with other fans) have pushed ourselves to try things, and do things that we never thought we would do.
Having seen James in BtVS meant I wrote for the first time since leaving school (having been told I couldn't write), I then travelled to London to hear him sing (my first ever concert) and to meet him .... since then I have extended this to learning computer art (despite my colour blindness) and lastly gone to see his band (without him!), but to meet his son, and friends.
Thank you James for all you have inspired me (and others) to do.
