debris4spike: (Clarinet.)
Had a pretty good day, so far.

Have decided that resting isn't really getting me anywhere, so decided to go back to the gym today and because I am on steroids at present, that went well.  I have also played my saxaphone for about 15 mins.  It is easier to play for my mouth than the clarinet, so have started easy, and will build up.

I still have all my sorting out to do, but I shall, hopefully, do a chunk of that tomorrow.

And, for a final piece of news, a final step for Mum & Dad, their bungelow no longer belongs to us ... it completed yesterday.  A long time, seeing as the neighbours put the offer in last Easter ... but as we got more than we expected we weren't too upset ovrt all.

And, before I post this meme that I snagged from [livejournal.com profile] zhelana

Just A Typical Day

debris4spike: (Spuffy - End of days (asleep))
This morning Dad and I listened to a double CD of hymns, and Dad wnted me to sing ... shows what a strong person he is if he can cope with that!!!  By then it was lunch, and they got a small amount of soup into him, as well as a small scoop of chocolate mousse.

Tim and Claire came in for 5 minutes, which was a "joy" .... I did learn that the house is exchanged, and the deposit paid, so we are letting them have a set of keys today so they can store stuff.  I have to go there this evening - and it's a Goodbye to the last family home for me.  I also have to take photos of the gas/elec/water meters, and Claire wants pictures of the empty rooms.  They were upset as they couldn't get tme off work and mentioned about the days going past .... I made the mistake of saying that I was worried about work, and they just said that I was OK to have the 3 weeks off with no questions.

About 10 mins after they left Nick arrived.  He was delayed as he had started work today, but apparantly had been called to a meeting and he is now suspended on full pay awaiting an occupational health report.  Hard for him as he has planned his lessons as from Monday, but good that the school is keeping an eye on him.  I had ordered him lunch (which had annoyed Claire), but was really glad I had when I heard this news.  He was only here a short time before he had to head off again.

This afternoon, as well as going to Mum & Dad's I have to take Jiffy to the vets.  He should have gone last week for a check up, but haven't wanted to be away from Dad ... today I just need to get him checked, as I have to take the keys there anyway.

Well as you can imagine, there's no real news.

I do want to say sorry for the lack of focus on your posts ... I hope I haven't missed anything vital.

This will be f-locked because of my Claire comment!!

Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] jen_nsync_landl ... hope you are having a good day.

Yesterday Brenda sent me a link to this photo .... her 5 boys, she said.  They are on holiday, so it seems as if they are enjoying family time together.

This morning I had to go to Mum & Dad's to meet the gas engineer to service the boiler, and then the people who are doing the final empty and clean of Mum & Dad's.  It'a the start of the end, and yet it still hasn't sunk in.  This last year has passed over me, yet somehow I can't come to terms with things.

Dad is ok, although a bit low emotionally and finding this warmer weather harder to cope with.  But the staff are monitoring him, and I have managed to get in 5 days a week.  I ususally take Jiffy about every 10 days.  Dad loves seeing "the boy" as he always calls him, and he livens up the staff no end.

Speaking of Jiffy I also took him back to the vets this morning.  He had an infection in his right anal gland.  I have been having to apply warm compresses to him, and it's getting batter.  If it hadn't improved it would have meant surgery, so that's good news.

Once we had seen Marni we went for a walk locally to her ...Brunel Woods )

Oh well, back to work tomorrow ... but only for the day, then out again with Christine on Friday.

Hope you are all having fun x
debris4spike: (Woodland walk)
In actual fact Jiffy and I went here on the Bank Holiday (Monday) with our friend Christine.

We went to Canonteign Falls which is the highest waterfall in England. Jiffy really enjoyed himself, and despite some of the huge steps he didn't need any help. In fact I think Christine and I stopped more than him. Both to enjoy the view and to catch our breath.

It was a lovely day - the weather was kind with it not too hot, but keeping dry, so lovely to have such a great day out - Thank you Christine for joining us.

A lovely day out )

Sorry I have yet again been missing, but have been trying to get some organisation at home. Finished my study this afternoon, so that is good. Tomorrow morning I am going back to Mum & Dad's to try to do a really good sort out. I am getting to the end now, which seeing as we actually move out soon is good.

I hope you have all had a good week - and if I have missed any news please point me in that direction.

Guess What ...???

debris4spike: (Cary Grant - Embarrassed for you)
Yes, I've been missing again!

I popped in to do my Seasonal Spuffy, but other than that have been missing.

Tomorrow I am meeting Tim at Mum & Dad's to do a (probable) final sort.  We have a finalisation date for late June, and what we have decided to see if we can do is a Charity House Clearance.  So they empty the house, clean, and tidy ... and sell whatever they can.  If their hours are more than their sales, we pay, if not we make a donation if we want.  I really had a lump in my throat when I heard the news, although I had known it had been sold for ages.

I didn't work yesterday (photos to follow), but have made a concerted effort to sort out my study, as there will be more kitchen stuff coming, and I need to have somewhere to sort the boxes while I am unpacking.

So, no Photo Friday, no time for a read through of my f-list (I am so, so sorry) ... but I do have some photos to share.

Sorry - I will be better soon, I promise.

I'm Back ... I Hope!

debris4spike: (Hi)
To say the house is still chaotic is being polite, but at least I have "dug" my way through my study to find my computer again. I will admit I haven't looked at LJ since I last wrote something, so if there is any big news please let me know.

I thought I would re-start my lj-ing with this amazing link -

As someone who can not dance at all, it does mean that maybe I still have time to learn!!!

So either skip the scribbles, or make yourself a pot of tea, and open up the biscuits ...what I have been up to )

Group hugs !!
debris4spike: (St Georges Day)
Just a fly by visit to wish you all a Happy St. George's Day.

I had hoped to be back by now, but it will be another couple of days at least. I am getting unpacked, I almost have a lounge and bedroom again. However I have been delayed by the tooth work and Dad not doing so well.

Miss you, see you soon.

I Give Up!!!!!

debris4spike: (James - London 2011 - flashing colours)

I have tried to catch up, and keep up with everyone, but not managing .... So I have decided that I will disappear for a week.  So, if you need me PM or email me.

I can't even get to my pc, so with only a mini tablet and tiredness I just am bowing out for the week.

See you on the flip side .... love and miss you

debris4spike: (Puppy licking)
Work is great, but still only doing half days as I am shattered, although I know that the furniture moving is both stressing and tiring me. Ended up sleeping for an hour this afternoon.

I haven't forgotten you all, just needing to be careful about my energy levels, with all the furniture moving on Saturday and Tuesday.

So will catch up .... I promise.

However, I just wanted to share this video. Great to see war heroes being honoured, especially our 4 (3) legged soldiers.
debris4spike: (Ow - look of shock on face)
LOL

Yesterday I was cleaning my teeth and heard a snap .... I have broken a crown off the tooth. Sadly I broke the tooth.

So, now I have 4 appointments booked ... the first of which will be to remove the nerve, and get ready to have a root post added.

#####

Yes, I am still missing, but am busy as I am getting rid of my furniture, before Mum and Dad furniture comes in 10 days time. So at present I have boxes and boxes of china and ornaments, as well as boxes of similar plus books from M+Ds.

So it may be next week before I catch up properly.

SORRY
debris4spike: (Kindle Readers (7 & the doctor))
I really have been missing, haven't I?

I actually worked half days over this last week, but found it pretty exhausting, so have rested quite a bit.

I am also trying to empty all my lounge display cabinets and cupboards as they are going to charity on Wednesday and I am having Mum & Dad's here instead ... lighter colour, and better quality.  So with stuff coming from M&D's as well, I am literally "knee-deap" in boxes of things, mostly china, glass or books.  Jiffy and I have had to learn hopscotch!

Still will try to get back to LJ - for one thing I owe loads of replies ... I may sit and do some on my tablet while I wait for the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race to start.  (Go, Cambridge!!)

Day 7 - Do You Read?  What Are Your Favourite Books?

  1. I love reading the Bible, both in modern versions and in the traditional King James version.  I have loads of Bibles, both old ones of the family, plus mine that have been used, or are being used.

  2. I love my Spuffy fan-fic.  Yes, I am one of those who never read the comics, and believe that Buffy and Spike ended up "living happily ever after"!!  I do like a what-if story from the actual series especially.

  3. I love the Harry Dresden series by Jim Butcher.  A good friend sent me the first book on CD as it is read by James.  Yes, I adore listening to him read them, but do love the series.

  4. I love a "Regency Romance" sort of book ... and have found a great site that gives me free Kindle books!  Mum has a set of Georgette Hayer, so they will be slowly worked through.

  5. I do love the Anne of Green Gables series, and a few other random books of that generation.

  6. I do love my history/travel books, and have loads, and more coming as Dad loves them as well.  He has some with him, and I shall be able to swap around to keep us both happy!

So, the answer is, yes, I do read!!

Just A Warning!!!

Tuesday, March 15th, 2016 09:27 am
debris4spike: (B&W swirls)
I may be a bit "in and out" over the next month.  I am feeling much better, although not 100%, but aim to re-start work on Thursday ... after 7 weeks at home that will feel weird, and I am sure Jiffy won't be happy!!  I work 3 1/2 days a week, however I have a busy month ahead.

We have 99.9% sold Mum and Dad's bungelow, to their neighbours.  They only rent, and their landlord is a real pain (even letting himself into the house without warning), there is also a lot of damp/mould.  So they approached us.

Anyway to do that, I am having a few pieces of furniture, which means I have to get rid of some of my stuff which is not as good.  I also have to pack up my room, and everything else.  I am meeting Tim & Claire after Church on Sunday, but hope to get there this afternoon.  So chaos in my place as furniture is being made available for a charity collection, or a refuse collection.

The whole family are meeting at M&D's on the 9th April to move some furniture to Nicks and Tims ... and the piano is going to one of Brenda's sisters as Andrew wants it.  Just as I was waking up this morning and planning what I had to get through today, this song came on the radio ... which really made me chuckle!

In other news I can't find where I put Jiffy's spare eye-drops (and at £25 a tube) I need to find it!  However I need to get an emergency replacement, so must get going.

So as I said, I may be a bit in and out ... I will try to keep up to date via my tablet, but a lot depends on how exhausted I end up in an evening.
debris4spike: (Dragonball)
Well I have managed to post some photos, but haven't replied to comments, or done the next day of the Meme thingy.

However I have almost organised for my old furniture here to either go to charity or the tip, and for the furniture I am having from M&D's to get here.  So haven't been too lazy.

Forone thing I cut my hair, so that was a job that was needed.

Saw Dad this morning, and he was upset when I got there, but after that was sorted we had a good laugh and a chat.  I find ti confusing as with the Alzheimer's I often don't know what we are talking about, but Dad does, and he's happy ... so that's the main thing!

Still tired from the virus, or the CFS, but the coughing is easier, and I am more focussed.  So, hopefully that means I can at long last get back to work next Thursday.  It's good timing really as I work for a week then have already booked a few days off for Easter.  So it will be a good test for me.

Well I will try to get on with replies tonight, but as I'm using my Tablet, it only lets me use my default icon ... so you will all get to see the photos of Mum (well if I get organised!)

Hopeyou are all having a good day today.

A Lovely Walk

Thursday, March 10th, 2016 03:00 pm
debris4spike: (Jiffy - sleepy)
I had to go to M&D's this morning to collect paperwork (etc), as Tim and I are now Dad's deputies.  We have set up the bank account etc, so Tim is going to sort out bills, cancel the phone, etc.  There is a probability that we have sold the place, even though it's not yet on the market.  We were going to do a final sort out over Easter, as much as needed, but our neighbours, who are only renting are very interested in buying it.  So, we need to focus and get on with the work.

Anyway, as I am off work again for another week I went this morning.  I also collected a load of Mum's sewing stuff, so I can sort out what is good, and throw the rest.

As it's lovely here today, I took Jiffy with me.  He doesn't like going to his old house now, but he did love the fact that I took him to a park that he loves.  We have been there a few times with my friend from Church.  Jiffy + walk + views = camera!  There is a leaflet here if you want to see what there is.

So - share our stroll with us .....here )

And, as I type this, Jify is asleep behind me, hence the icon!
debris4spike: (Good Luck)
How many people are still there.  It has been quite in LJ land and I miss you.

Anyway, busy plans today.   I am unpacking (at long last) all my photo albums, and hoping to finally sort my spare room to look like a bedroom rather than a dumping ground.  I am waiting for a new mattress to be delivered, which was promised last week, but they got the time wrong and I had a shift.  So today I am off work, but am determined to use the day positively.

So, now I have a question for you all.

What photo would you like to see?  I have photo albums from pre-birth(yes I have a few of family) dating up to 2007.  So, ask for a picture I will find it.  I do warn you that it will take some time, as I still have no index worked and have just under 2000 pictures!

So - ask away - anything, more than one, silly, weird ... and I will post, I promise.  Good Luck, with your choices!

How Bizarre

debris4spike: (What?)
For those who have forgotten, I moved here on November 25th.

Guess what has just arrived in the post?

A "welcome to your new home" package from the Estate Agents!

Nice - tea bags, loo roll, kitchen roll, coffee and a mug.  So useful, but seemed a bit "late"

As you know they moved with me to Exeter as I was reluctant to say Goodbye to them. But in the beginning of this year we had a speaker come from Medical Missionary News and he was saying that although most charities just send money now, they still send containers of items to Africa. The DVD was so sad showing the conditions in some of the countries that it really spoke to me and I emailed them the next day.

So, they are off to Africa.

It is great to know that they will soon be used to help with the healing of people again.

So a positive end to my part of their story.
