When I was 11, until I was 18 I did sports 3 ties a week, plus learnt Judo .... and never once did I ever manage ONE press-up.

Today at gym I went to a core-class and did 40 second "plank", then a 10 second gap, before doing the same, with lifting one leg and holding for 5 seconds, then the other leg, then an arm, then the other .... and again.

Yay - high-5 Deborah ... Truly happy with yself.

... and, yes, I am looking forward to the next episode at the end of the year.

Well so much for being around more often!  I have managed to keep going at work, get to the gym .... but that's it.  I am very tired, so haven't done much more than snooze in front of the TV in an evening.  Great as when I get in from work, one of the channels has been showing re-runs of Dr Quinn, so that's a good start to relaxation.  I don't always get to see it all as I am walking Jiffy, but as I know the story that's not a problem.

I have Tim & Claire coming over tomorrow for tea.  I haven't seen them since Christmas, so it will be nice to catch up.  Did I tell you Nick & family came here about 10 days ago ... for lunch, and to see Mum & Dad's graves.  We had a good time.

Yet again, I am sorry .... I haven't forgotten you all, and do miss you.  But the brain doesn't catch up too quickly ... sorry.

Happy ANZAC Day

Best wishes to all who remembered this morning at dawn.

Normally on a Tuesday morning I go to the gym before work, but on Saturday evening I pulled my calf muscle, just where I tore it 4 years ago ... it is not happy (and neither am I). So this morning I have made some ANZAC biscuits to take to work this afternoon ... my boss is a Kiwi, and seemed stunned I knew what the date was!

I am then popping out to the shops to get some new shoes to wear to the gym, when I started this I only bought plimsolls as I didn't think I would stick at it, but with old ankle and Achilles injuries I need to be sensible.

I will try to both catch up with replies at some point, and get some photos taken of my conservatory, and other work I've had done.

As all of you probably know by now we had a terrorist related incident in London, and as ever random people walking through the city are injured or have lost their lives.  It seems small compared with other atrocities, but no doubt is meant to scare people away from the city.

No way - terrorists are not going to run my life ... or my country!

Anyway, enough of politics (etc) not something I usually even mention on LJ.

I keep saying I am back and then disappear!  Last time I picked up a tummy bug (I think the kid who sat in front of me at Church the previous day was ill), and sadly my Chronic Fatigue set back in ... so I somehow lost a week.  I managed to work for 2 days, but that was all.

So, I need to focus, and get back on track.  There is no way I can skim back through your news, and I must yet again apologise that I have been a bad friend (I should get that sentence in the pc memory and that way just fill that line in each time! ).

So what I need to do is do a catch-up post incase any of you remember who I am, and want to know where I am and what I am doing! It's all about me - )

I do hope that you are all well ... any news, please let me know.
*group hugs*

I owe replies, I haven't caught up with my f-list .... I am just so, so bad!

But I am determined to start catching up, starting today.  In about 1/2 hours time Jiffy and I are heading out to pick up my friend Christine, have a walk and lunch at a doggy friendly place.  I am taking my camera but as the decorator is still in I can't get at my main computer so won't share today .... but will asap.

Anyway, what's up with me?  Not much!

I am having my kitchen painted at present, and yesterday the same painter finished painting my bedroom.  The carpet arrives next week.  So hopefully as the days and weeks now move on I shall be able to start packing things away in their permenant homes.  I have decided to have a sunlounge off my kitchen, so there is that to confirm and book ... and then the only thing I will eventually need is a new lounge carpet and the room painted.

No further on my holiday plans, as I am waiting for Annemarie to confirm the dates with her.  So annoying, as I dare-say flights, etc will be going up in price.   So am still at the vague point of Oregon - LA - San Fransisco - Visiting a friend in Missouri.  Will update, when I can.

Jiffy is doing well - slightly confused by stuff being moved around all the time, so it will be nice to get him settled again.

Having been a bit on-off with the gym, I have gone twice last week, already once this week, and booked for a class on Friday.

I have had a week or two of drifting, but I am determined to get myself back on track.  I will catch up with comments, re-post a gift I owe (!), and try to keep up to date with all your journals.  Bear with me - I will get there!

Well I had better get on and get Jiffy ready.

I know I have missed a few birthdays over this last week sorry - but on the day that would have been Mum's 89th birthday, I do hope you had a good day, and the year ahead is special.

Be back later *hugs*

What was the last new thing you tried?

Easy - I started at the gym back in October.

Just a point of history ... Queen Victoria died 116 years ago today ... In other words, Happy 116th birthday Grandma! All my Grandparents were Victorians, but this one (the youngest) only had a few hours of being so before the Queen died. My Grandmother had an extra name added to her ... Ada VICTORIA Frances!!

What mood were you in today?

Pretty good.

  • I heard back from Annemarie, and it looks as if plans can be made for my USA trip.

  • I went to the gym, and although wasn't there long had a good time.

  • Jiffy had a good walk this morning ... this week has been tough as two vet visits (he likes them, but sad they had to happen).. An ear infection, then a cut paw. But today he was doing well

A few of my friends have done posts reminding us at that despite problems and upsets, there are still so many positive things, so I am going to try a positive post a week.

Yesterday I went to the gym, and my trainer has increased the number of repeats on all my programme!  There was one that I reduced the weight for on the last rep as I was struggling, but other than that I managed (just).  However what really cheered me up was that I always finish with a swim and jacuzzi.  As I was swimming I actually counted the lengths and realised that back in October the first time I went I only swam ... and only managed 4 lengths, a gap, and another 4.  Yesterday, after an increased workout, I swam 10 lengths, and actually could probably have done a bit more ... so, great, my stamina is much improved already.

Back to work this afternoon after 6 weeks off.  Still coughing, and catching my breath, but I am doing an "ignore and see" ... so for me, that's a positive way forward!  Having had a lifetime of chest problems at least my doctor accepts that I will struggle from time to time ... so we are seeing how things go.

And finally, had a great walk with Jiffy this morning.  He has been a bit sluggish, which worried me, I put his older jumper on him, and whether it was that, or just he is feeling better, he enjoyed himself ... and it was great walking across frosty land.

Well I must get on, as I need to get an early lunch and change ready for work.

Day 24 → Something which caught your interest this year

As I have already commented I have enjoyed the challenge of the gym.
debris4spike: (Clarinet.)
Had a pretty good day, so far.

Have decided that resting isn't really getting me anywhere, so decided to go back to the gym today and because I am on steroids at present, that went well.  I have also played my saxaphone for about 15 mins.  It is easier to play for my mouth than the clarinet, so have started easy, and will build up.

I still have all my sorting out to do, but I shall, hopefully, do a chunk of that tomorrow.

And, for a final piece of news, a final step for Mum & Dad, their bungelow no longer belongs to us ... it completed yesterday.  A long time, seeing as the neighbours put the offer in last Easter ... but as we got more than we expected we weren't too upset ovrt all.

And, before I post this meme that I snagged from [livejournal.com profile] zhelana

Day 19 → what you learned this year

One thing I did learn was that I could actually enjoy going to the gym. Sadly I was really beginning to notice an increase in strength when this bug hit, so haven't been this month ... hope to try to get there for a short time in the next couple of days, or at least have a swim.

I also did a couple of the FurureLearn courses, my favourite of which was about the start of the Quakers. That was certainly interesting, but as ever I forget some of the facts I enjoyed learning!

Day 13 → talk about hobbies this year

I have been very lazy this year. In the past, in evenings, I have done handcraft or jigsaws in the evening, but have ended up drifting. Starting next year I am hoping to get back to those hobbies.

I did join the gym just after Dad died, and until a couple of weeks ago was really enjoying it, which surprised me. However having lost energy with this latest virus I haven't been able to go, but am hoping by the weekend to be able to get there for a short time.
debris4spike: (Not pleased.)
I am still unwell ............ despite feeling so much better.

Today I had taken a day off as I had planned to meet up with Christine for a walk, but it got changed at the last moment.  So I decided to turn off the alarm clock and have a lazy start.  Little did I realise that, having had an early night I would sleep the clock round, so at just gone 10 was when I woke.  So, a lazy breakfast and a short walk with Jiffy, and I decided to go to the gym.

Sadly when I was doing my 3 minute warm-up I noticed my heart rate had already gone up to 170,  I do have a fast heart rate, but that was unusual as even the first time it only hit 148.  So, I decided to slow down and just do a steady 10 mins, making sure the heart didn't go above 150.  Then did a few of the exercises and a slow swim.

So, a snack lunch, and then fell asleep again for a couple of hours.

So, yes, even though I feel a lot better I have to remember the CFS is still there.  It was nice to have the day off really.

The carpenters have finished, for the present, but am waiting for the decorators now, so can't find anything.  But I have decided to "go with the flow" and aim for my birthday next June to hope that things will be gettting more organised by then.

As I hadn't been all that good at posting about general things, I have found a meme via Google, which I will do.  Probably not every day, but will try to work steadily through it.

50 Deep and Thought-Provoking Questions. )
debris4spike: (James - buzz cut & name.)
When we were kids we had a record player with a few 78's .... a few hymns, a version of Black Sambo, Peter & the Wolf .... and this amazing song. It became a true family favourite.

A couple of times they played it to people who were superior about their taste in music.

Tim has just sent me the link, so had to listen ... and had to share.

So you can listen while you ignore my ramble!

First let me apologise for my lack of LJ, lack of birthday wishes, lack of keeping up.  I started back at work this week, and although I only work 3 1/2 days a week I was absolutely shattered by the time I got home.  So my evenings were spent snoozing in front of thf the TV, and going to bed early.

6 years ago I was still an osteopath, and riding regularily.  Since then the chronic fatigue hit, and I spent time caring for Mum & Dad.  Everyone has been telling me that I need to find myself.  I haven't really had any "me" time ... ever.  Mum was very clingy, and it got worse over the years.  Yes, I knew she was like that and accepted it, but now it's hard to think that I only have myself (and Jiffy) to answer to.  Anyway, one thing I have decided to do is to join a gym ... gulp!  I never thought I would do such a thing.  The one I have joined has a pool, jacuzzi and sauna as well aas regular revues for the gym, and loads of classes.  So I have had the basic gym induction over the last couple of weeks ... and this morning I actually did my first session today.  I am aimimg to help my posture, build up my stamina and strengthen my core.  So, watch this space!!

I saw my osteopath again today, and he was pleased with how well by body has coped with the latest changes.

Poor Jiffy has to have surgery .... The infection in his anal gland is getting slowly worse, and the benign wart on his face is now being scrathed, so I presume it feels sore.  He is booked in for early October, so a nervous time for me, as he is over 10 now.

However to take my mind off things I took him to a nearby town for a lovely walk this afternoon ... in fact I even treated myself to an ice-cream.  However, as I was texting a very special friend, I still feel guilty, as there is housework that needs doing.  It feels wrong to fritter my time away, although I have to admit I feel pretty relaxed as I type this.

Well still haven't got round to reply to comments, but I really hope that now I am getting back into a routine I will have more focus and get caught up,   Also will be able to catch up with you all ... if I have missed anything, let me know.

Strictly Come Dancing has started, so must focus on that ... the countdown towards Christmas!!!!
