On the Saturday morning Auntie Joyce took Jiffy and I to the front again.  This time near the pier.

There are a few themed gardens ... such as the Rememberance Gardens, and the Rose Gardens.  However the most stunning was the garden around the War Memorial, truly special.

The beautiful gardens along the sea-front at Clacton )

And what would be a sea-side without amusements ....This way to playtime )

And, of course, Jiffy signs were everywhere -

I realised that some of the time oof feeling low and unwell has escalated me feeling low, and sorry for myself.  I had not bothered dying out the grey hair, wore tatty jeans, and din't even bother with ear-rings on a couple of days.

So, hair is coloured, and yesterday afternoon I took Jiffy for an extra walk locally (with my phone only) to take some photos for my Friday challenge,as you can see )

Earlier in the day yesterday I had been to the dentist again, and she has talked herself out of extraction, and has re-filled the root and giving it a month to settle (I think she is hoping that if it gets worse I shall return before that ... while she is on holiday!!)  I then went to Mum & Dad's and did another 90 mins of sorting.  There's still loads to do, but I am slowly getting through it all.  I then went to see Dad, who was exhausted!  The morning had been a "street party" at the home, which I had hoped to go to until the dentist intervened.  Then a meal outside, then some kids from a local school gave a sing along party.  Hopefully I will get to see the photos.  Everyone said Dad had a great time.  He has a new posh, large wheelchair now, so he can sit in it, as well as be moved in it.  It has a large footplate as well, and he sais it's very comfy.

Today Jiffy and I went in the bus to Exeter ... he loves going there.  I bought a pasty for lunch, that he shared a corner of ... so I decided me time was needed ... the boxes will still be here later!

PS, Friday 13th May 1981 was the day I passed my Driving Test ... Happy Anniversary me!

Well I must get some art done - I signed up for Seasonal Spuffy ... Hope you are all having a good weekend.

Happy Saturday Everyone

debris4spike: (Hi)
At last a chance to sit and catch up a bit.

I am trying to be a good girl on my days I work a 9-5 and not switch on my computer, but rest and slob out in front of the TV, with an early night. There is still loads and loads to sort out, so I don't want to push myself like I had to last year. Hopefully I shall slowly be able to increase my "working" time, but at present I am trying to be sensible (shock, I know!!)

Yesterday I went to the dentist for my 4th appointment - which in theory should have been the crown placement. However on appt 2 (after the nerve removal) I was sore while she was drilling, and then the area hurt for the week, so last week it was no treatment but penicillin, however no change. So yesterday she took all the filling out and re-x-rayed, and drilled, cleaned, and put an antibiotic liner in, before re-sealing the root area. She was quite upset because if this doesn't work I lose the tooth. As it's a tooth #2 she is upset. I don't care about my own appearance (in fact I never ever use a mirror), but she is upset. So I had to comfort the dentist as I know she has done everything she can. The area is very sore, but whether that's the antibiotics working or not, I wont know till Friday ... watch this space.

Saw dad only briefly yesterday as he was in the activities room helping with a wall hanging ... well, he was sitting and laughing as the activities co-ordinator teased him into saying he was in charge of the 6 ladies there. Great to see him happy.

Sorry, I forgot the camera yesterday, but as I was dentist, then an hour at Mum & Dad's doing more clearing out nothing to photograph. So I thought I would share the pictures I took on my phone last week. The camera is not great (to me a phone is just to keep in contact!), but [livejournal.com profile] dragonflylady77 challenged me on Instagram to post a nature picture a day for a week -Read more... )

And finally, as it's a weekend, and we haven't got thesun the rest of England has, here is some James to cheer us all up -

As I was reading this morning (I am now in Mark ... I told you my reading pattern is set out oddly in this scheme), I came across this sentence in the passage where Jesus is feeding the 5,000 -

Mark 6 v 39 ... Jesus got them all to sit down in groups of fifty or a hundred—they looked like a patchwork quilt of wildflowers spread out on the green grass!

I just thought it was so descriptive, and a reminder that God gave us so much beauty in nature.

I Do Love Roses

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] curiouswombat ... and others

Your Spirit Flower is the Rose

You always have a hug and a smile for your friends. You're happy to have them as a part of your life.
You believe that love is a doing word. You are always expressing your feelings through small acts of kindness.

You are serene and satisfied with your life. You're content but not complacent.
You draw comfort from many things and people in your life. You allow yourself to be happy.

Some years ago I did a Photography City & Guilds ... but tend to get very lazy and just take snap-shots.  Having been without the camera for ages I am going to now try to take a few "proper" photos from time to time.

Last Saturday morning Jiffy and I went and patrolled his favourite route (Dad doesn't take him as it is too long, and hilly) ... it is just down the road from them ....

Jiffy's favourite path ... and a couple of images I spotted )

After our walk it is always time to do housework or gardening. Last Saturday Dad and I decided to finish off one corner of their hedge ... as the neighbours had done their side .... the only trouble is it was a bit cool ....So look at what a stylish doggy is wearing )

Sadly after a couple of hours walk & work my body was not happy ... and I spent Sunday and most of Monday in bed. I didn't have a shift today anyway, but am having a lazyish day to try to re-charge the batteries.
debris4spike: (Rose)
Only I could manage that!

I suddenly realised that the days are flying past and I haven't really been around - just dipping in and out occasionally.  One of the side-effects oof this "illness I don't actually have!!" is that I find it hard to concentrate and focus on anything at all some days.  The aches and poor sleeping making that worse, I know, but it is doubly frustrating.

No work today, which means that the bank will be sad, but I am determined to both rest and do some catching up ... and (if I feel motivated) do a bit more fence painting.

When I arrived at M&D's it was to be greeted by Jiffy (as ever), to show me his new hair-cut.  Jackie comes and collects him every 2 months, and off he goes for his beauty treatment ... more than I ver get!

One posh boy )

The weekend as ever was hectic, which doesn't help the rest of my week, as it does sap my "coping" mechanism.  But it's good to be able to help mum & dad to cope with life.  Although I have the garden looking "OK" it isn't as great as when Mum used to do it.  She was very into small plants - whereas I am happy if I can keep most of the weeds away!  Anyway here are is a quick look as to what it was looking like this weekend .... complete with guardian angel, of course -

Looking good ... from a distance you can't see the weeds )

And, here are a few close ups of the flowers ... nothing to do with my care, they just managed to survive me!
Beautiful Colours )

And, last but not least ....

Wishing [livejournal.com profile] act3scene1 a very happy birthday - and a lovely year ahead.
debris4spike: (Gardening - cut the grass Avon &Vila)
I never have been a fan of gardening, but this year it is looking not too bad ... considering I only have one day a week to work at it, and then sometimes the weather is against me.

Anyway ... there are a few gorgeous flowers out on this weekend ....So Spring has sprung )

Tuesday Lunch

debris4spike: (Spike talking.)
I did tell you on Wednesday when I updated that I had brought Mum, Dad & Jiffy over to my place for lunch ... and I didn't poison them despite not being able to get the ingredients I needed.  I gave the chicken in mushroom + vegetable sauce, potatoes & mixed veg, followed by Key Lime Pie.  Both of which were new (to me) recipes.

Anyway - they survived ... and here we are having tea on the patio before going for a walk -

Family photos (yes Jiffy is there as well )

And, to show that although I only have patio,I have managed to get some nice flowers growing  )

Cooler today, so am pleased there are some pictures to share showing that summer "did" exist over the weekend!

This was the summer .... been and gone??? )

Hopefully summer will give us a few more hours at some point!

The Tropical Biome is the second one to visit ... so that you can enjoy the increasing temperature and humidity!

At the tropics )

When we went with Annemarie she said that they had the atmosphere correct - and as she grew up in Angola, Mauritius and Reunion, she whould know!

Sorry I haven't got round to answering past comments - will try to later today.  Now for the rest of my Eden trip.  And so to the biomes themselves ... I will admit I love the atmosphere of the Mediterranean one, with scenes/flowers from Southern Spain, California and South Africa ....And so off to travel the world, in a few easy steps )

I hope to get to see the California flowers for myself one day!

Eden 1

debris4spike: (Chocolate + Earth)
As I said in my catch-up post, Christine and I went back to Eden last Friday - the weather was good, but cold ... and we had a great day. We first went last year with Annemarie and this was our third visit - so it has been good to see it through a couple of different seasons.

The general view )

As ever while walking round I did look out for James Bond (Die Another Day)

There's plenty to see before you even get to the biomes )

More pics to follow on another post.

debris4spike: (Aw - James.)
When I saw what today's post was, I did wonder what I could take a picture of. This morning I woke up feeling rough, and ended up seeing my doctor, who told me I had a viral throat infection ... and that me throat looked red raw ... maybe I should have got him to take a picture for me!

However I got to Mum and Dad's at the same time as Dad returned from the shops withthis plant )

Mum and Dad moved into their first house together 59 years ago and he bought her a plant as a pressie ... ever year another one arrives on the kitchen table.  A nice bright spot in a day.

Last Saturday before I went to Eric's 80th I did gardening, as normal ... supervised by Jiffy ... of course!

I also took a few photos of the flora and fauna in the garden ....

Creation in it's beauty )

I was glad to get the camera out as we then had a couple of days of rain! Still today was a bit brighter - and I managed to get washing hung out before work, and was back by 6pm and just before the rain returned!

And there are more pics here ... including one HOT DOG )
I am annoyed - Monday morning is baking morning and decided to rty a new cake recipe ... hasn't worked, at all - I have shoved it back in the oven in the hope it will behave itself ... anyway, the bread rolls were fine.  So not a total loss of a morning.
